Banned for using VGS

The banning system in this game is absolute garbage. I have been banned several times, now a one week ban. The only thing I do is spam VGS because it's fun. So if players don't like it they can just mute me. I'm not hurting anyone. The fact that they ban for this is beyond my comprehension. Why am I getting banned for using an in-game feature?

If I submit a ticket asking for exact details on why I'm getting banned, the support team either 1) doesn't respond or 2) links me to their ban policy page. Very helpful support! I know for a fact that they don't do any sort of investigation in their bans and only have a human confirm a ban after a player reaches x number of reports. Why do I have so many reports? Because at the end of the match the game says "x player may have done something wrong" and the game tells them to report me just from using vgs.......

Meanwhile the players that truly harrass others, afk, feed, troll, make threats, racist comments, etc. don't get banned. You want to know why? Because they would only have a few reports from their team in a single match, not a large number from both teams in every match because the game doesn't say to report them unless its for voice commands. What game bans for using chat, esp. since it's a feature of the game? Seriously it's annoying as I love the game and vgs are fun to use. If players don't like it they can just mute, no big deal.

What is true justice? Banning someone who is annoying because they spam vgs every match and builds up a lot of reports? Or banning someone who tells them they're worthless and not to get out of bed in the morning (yes someone told me that). I can guarantee they're not banned because only I reported them (1 report). I can easily build up 50 reports if I spam chat every match and the game tells the entire team to report me.....

PLEASE FIX YOUR SYSTEM HIREZ.

Fix? Hi-Rez studios cannot fathom a world where you can "fix" something.

On another note, I also spam VGS for fun when I play SMITE, but I've never been banned, and neither warned for reports (Except by salty trashies who lost).

And I'm not going to jump to conclusions like most of the people on these forums, but you've got to be doing something pretty bad to get reported and BANNED for "using VGS". Again, I cannot say you really have done more than that, and the Report System and Support System are mega trash. But you really have to be doing something like spamming "You Rock" "Cancel That" every single game and make your teammates salty and rage report you.

So either you just got unlucky, or you're hiding something. IDK what.

VGS spamming was changed to be a punishable offense not so long ago. You get chat restricted for a while if you do it.

If you actually got banned, as in you got negated access to your account, you definitely abused the VGS system to the point chat restrictions are no longer an option.

Cases are manually reviewed when it's believed that a ban is deserved.

We can argue all day if it's right or wrong. At the end of the day, Hi-Rez's the one deciding these kind of things.

Maybe don't spam VGS next time? Its fun for you, but can be annoying for your team mates. Especially if you are doing the VER VVX VER VVX spam. That is toxic.

Proper ban or Shadow ban? And how do you know it's for VGS?

If it's shadow ban, then it's just chat. They introduced this a few patches ago.

If it's a proper ban, chances are it's some other reason that you are banned.
Though as another person said above, if this is constant spamming whenever possible, they may have done it for that reason.

As for banning for using an in-game feature;
- VGS is an in game feature
- VGS is intended to be used for communicating with a team, with no mic needed
- Spamming VGS would be considered as misusing to feature, not using it. Big difference.

Why does there have to be a choice? Why not ban both?

You may have received more reports in a shorter time than them, meaning your account would be flagged easier than theirs.

I mean you are using a system meant to help teams with situational awareness to troll. I'd ban your ass to. People are playing a competitive game to win not get heckled. Yes, one can mute the person engaging in this behavior (and I do), but I have one friend who refuses to mute people on the off chance they actually use vgs to relay useful tactical information. Your constant vva is only for your emotional release and is counter productive. I can't believe you don't see the issue here. Have some self-awareness.

Guy does something against ToS, and gets reported and banned for it. Rather than going "I did something against ToS, I was a t**t waffle. I won't do it again." he comes to steam game forums to whine about it and is all "But those other people are so much worse."

Don't spam VGS. What is so hard to understand. The person who is calling everyone the N-word and saying they hope they die of cancer, can be muted too, so could argue no one has any reason to report and get him banned if they don't want to see what he is saying.

There is very little difference between you and them.

People who spam VGS can be just as toxic.

After every kill your team mate gets, not after deaths. It's not toxic at all, if anything, it's encouraging.
It's not spamming it either, it's saying it once.

If you are getting permanently banned it's likely because you repeatedly and consistently refuse to follow the rules, terms of the use of the game, or refuse to adhere to previous bans and any way of correcting whatever behaviour you were banned for.

That's what gets you banned. Not specifically spamming chat, but because you are continuing to break rules, knowing you've been banned for them before.

That's even assuming it is just the chat spam, and you aren't leaving anything out.
