Beating Ymir solo?
It's the single least fun thing I've experienced in the lane short of playing Guan Yu. If he buys hunter's blessing, he WILL win by killing you in six basics after a freeze.
How do people deal with it? Is sitting under tower the only viable counter?

Ymir solo doesn't really hold up in comparison to almost any warrior. He has no sustain. Just pick any Warrior and go to town on Ymir. Just avoid his damage, and keep track of his cooldowns by chipping him down. You're never going to 1 shot him, so just poke him and get out of his range. You'll out poke and out sustain Ymir easily.

Can't out-poke Ymir when him hitting a single ability will give him a free half-health ability + auto chain. If he's actively trying to box and freezes the lane on you, there's not much to do. Can't kill him because his base stats are tankier and he's up on gold, and stepping up for the wave just gets you killed. Then jungler inevitably camps your blue or he invades on cooldown and the lane is over.

I just don't get it.

Another issue is the solo lane rn. It's 100% the worst role to be playing in Conquest rn. It's just game knowledge and matchup knowledge. You'll get better with it in time - but trust me, Ymir solo isn't op by means

I know it isn't objectively OP, it's nowhere to be found in high level play. I just can't figure out where the disconnect is between it being nonexistent in masters/SPL and oppressive in normal play.
Coming from support, solo is a lot more fun (provided the jungler isn't camping your lane and making it a surrogate duo lane, which often happens anyways). Instant loss matchups are obnoxious, but there's less pressure to rotate all the time and more outplay potential. Good for learning fundamentals.

Clear the way and back off.
He HAS to use his 2 on the wave and then he wont have it to burst you.
His basics may seem scary early but they get obsolete soon and if you can bait and avoid his stun he's defensless

Alternatively, stick very close to him. You should have enough time to dodge off to the side if he wants to freeze that way. When he's used the ability, keep track of it's CD.

You can also save a dash (if you have one) to dash through him when he's going to, especially if he's slowed you first.

I mostly play Jungle. There are LOT of salty tears from Solo laners getting camped by red Jungler.

Understand that Solo lane is by far the least important and if the enemy jungler is just camping there he's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ his team everywhere else - this is a good thing.

Don't believe me? Check out some of the SPL Solo player's youtube channels, like fineokay.

Tip as a physical against a tanky char, get the executioner, helps a LOT.

Only if it's a basic attack focused god, like a Hunter or certain Assassins. Otherwise Titan's Bane or other items from the Mace tree. Void Shield is another decent option.

Warriors don't really need to be killy though, just able to survive the fight for a while. Building tanky or bruiser isn't a terrible choice against Ymir in Solo lane.
honestly tho, ymir is broken, deal with it

As a warrior i often use both, works wonders in the solo lane against those extra defense hard bots.

He's cheese. Just pick a god with crazy sustain, that can sit back, poke and/or clear lane. Baron and Hades are some good picks that I like to use for crazy pressure gods. Just realize, you aren't there to fight Ymir. You're there to farm and become useful later whether it be rotating for team fights or to try and box Ymir more efficiently. Just time his cool downs as good as you can and wait for his Glacial Strike on the minions. He's a god that is all about blowing all of his cool downs in one round rather than sit and sustain. If he uses his clear, he's probably less likely to try and go for a kill. Ymir just falls off mid/late compared to more team fight oriented gods. You could even rock out a Hunter in the Solo lane, but I wouldn't do it in a ranked match and your team might hate you if they don't have front line.

Problem is that you can't counterpick in casual. Being stuck with someone like Nike who uses channels to clear is a guaranteed lane loss.

If you normally level your channel ability against someone who can interrupt it, you level something else.
You don't level your Bludgeon as Bellona against any god who can interrupt it. You level something else instead.

You can also play differently. Rather than focus on clearing, focus on fighting the enemy laner.
