It really just depends on what your playstyle is and who you can find yourself enjoying to pick up. If you prefer being a healing support sylvanus and yemoja are good starts. Wanna be a little more of just a tanky damage dealer then you also have jormungander and ymir. Once you learn the game a bit more you can play around and start using other gods in roles they aren't specifically meant for i.e. aphrodite is a mage yet she is a powerful healer and often gets picked in the support role.

Most guardians primarily play support, with the exception of Cabrakan and Jorm. (Both can maybe play support but they're much better at other roles)

Some warriors are also good supports, such as Horus, Hercules, Guan Yu, and Erlang Shen

Assassin supports can also be a thing, but only if they have a lot of CC and/or damage pen/true damage. Examples include Ne Zha, Fenrir, and Serqet.

I really can't think of too many actually good mage supports. Aphrodite and Chang'e are NOT supports and a lot of new players fall for that trap. Aphro plays solo/mid and Chang'e plays solo.

Hunter supports don't exist

Supports in this game are generally more bruiser-y than in League, you want to get tanky and peel for your team with pure harassment and CC. Think of it like a more supportive version of LoL's top lane but with more roaming.

So ne zha is a good support to you but aphro isnt? LMFAO also the fact that you think jorm and cabrakan arent good for what they are actually intended yet you have someone like erlang is very interesting. Anyway OP should know being a support is mostly about being able to stay alive within team fights and securing their team with easy kills and control the crowd. Start with guardians and once you learn other gods and see what their strengths are dont be afraid to try them in different roles.

NeZha was literally a top SPL support pick for half a season

Aphro has very ♥♥♥♥ CC and has to build damage to make her kit function, which makes her far squishier than she could be. She isn't a support and never was. Her utility comes from getting to lategame via snowballing and functioning as a utility midlaner/solo, much like Hel does.

Jorm also isn't a support the ♥♥♥♥ you on? He was and still is a top SOLO pick, its his main role and what 90% of people play him as, both in and out of the SPL. He has the recurring issue with these gods you bring up: he needs to build hybrid damage to function so he needs the solo lane farm to work. Cabrakan can play support but most people play him jungle because like Aphro and Jorm his kit requires him to focus on hybrid damage, not auras/tank setups like most supports

Erlang works as a support because he has a ton of CC + bulk and has built in damage stims to let him continue to deal damage and harass foes as he peels for his team even with a tank setup, which is also why Serqet is a top support pick currently.

You either have no clue what you're talking about or refuse to understand that classes =/= roles

aphro isn't tanky enough to be a support, she does heal, but she is so much better in solo and mid. ne zha on the other hand, has insane cc that can be used to set up kills
Jorm and Cab are both just not that tanky. Cab dies way too easily early game and jorm is just better in solo

Titles like mage, assassin, guardian, etc are just used to organize the characters- THEY DO NOT MEAN THAT THEY ARE GOOD/SHOULD BE PLAYED IN THAT ROLE!!!
Jorm, Cab, ymir, erlang, herc, horus, odin, mulan, ao kuang, baba yaga, baron samedi, chang'e, chronos, freya, hades, sol, morrigan, zhong, etc all are better in other roles than what they are listed for.
they can be used there, but they are sooo much better in others

you can technically play anyone anywhere, but they won't always be super good

OP, I suggest you play Xing Tian, Geb, and Kuzenbo- they are all really fun imo, and they are very good as of rn

if you want to play a healer I would suggest terra, horus, or baron

For more aggressive Supports;
- Ares
- Xing Tian
- Erlang Shen
- Athena
- Hercules
- Kuzenbo

More passive/backline Supports
- Geb
- Khepri

Other Supports
- Ganesha (Though his passive can lead to bad habits if you get too used to it)
- Sylvanus
- Basically any other Guardian besides Jormungandr and Cabrakan (for reasons mentioned elsewhere)

I'd say anyone else who works well is either less common, or more difficult to use here. Usually they are odd choices, like Nox, Baron Samedi, and some others. They can work, but you probably want more experience with them first.

My point isnt about class = role, its literally just interesting to me. Aphro is a wonderful support when she is played correctly, built correctly. As it was stated multiple times throught this discussion board ANY GOD CAN BE PLAYED IN ANY ROLE. I was just letting OP know that it IS better to start off with what the classes are it gives a better understanding of what you are looking for. I literally could use khepri and take out a jorm in solo if I wanted to. doesnt mean he cant do it because most people dont know how to accomplish it.

Just because it can be done doesn't mean it's good. Yes I could stomp a terrible Jorm player in solo as Khepri but that doesn't matter because in an equal skill matchup you're basically throwing.

What build are you using for Aphro? It's gonna be like shoving a square peg into a circular hole because neither her stats or her kit works for the role at all. She has really poor bulk and her CC is highly situational and can even be detrimental to her tether partner. Her kit also needs pricey damage items to work since her heal scales off power, making useful support utility/tank items a bad fit for her. She simply doesn't work in the role and is at best a noob trap for new people migrating from League of Legends supports.

There is no situation where Aphro can't have her job done better in support. Even as a heal-bot you could play Yemoja or Sylvanus and have an actual frontline tank that can peel and lock down targets, which Aphro cannot do.
