I bolded the relevant part. This is the horrible misconception that makes your whole argument fall apart. Nowhere in the win conditions does it mention player kills. You can literally win a match with 0 kills, if the titan dies. Your opponents are not stupid, they have a choice between staying and dying(giving you extra gold and xp, and denying them more gold and xp due to respawn) or retreating and giving up some space. One is clearly superior to the other, they would be stupid if they actually stayed to die.
Whatever action leads to a better chance at achieving the win conditions is the good action to take, it's irrelevant whether you like their choice or not.
You might not want to fight if;
- You have low/no mana
- CDs aren't back
- Bad matchup
- Lack of support from team/outnumbered
- Realise you can't do much right now (not enough defences as a tank for instance)
- You are a late game comp in the early game
- You are trying to gank Zhong Kui
You might also want to back out of fights if you have just used your abilities. Hit and Run is a very viable tactic, particularly for Jungler type characters. Serqet is a great example, as is Bastet.
In some modes defending is also viable. Forcing your enemy to siege you so you don't get deicided. Joust is notorious for this (or it was, not sure anymore since you can get behind the Phoenix now).
You cant switch gods mid match, right? So Id always have to choose gods that can do that. I hate when gamers say non sense like that. Goes with my original post and point: If every one did that, there wouldnt be any matches with any variety.
It reminds me of people in MMORPGs who say if you dont like queue times for DPS then play a tank or healer. Right, because every one can just play tank or healer right? We dont need DPS? Same applies here. We can just take down raid bosses as tanks? No.
So ill give up on this post and just say if you run from a fight CONSTANTLY you're a scrubby little coward who lives in their video game and fails at real life so theyre ego is tied solely to their characters in games. Happy Smiting, all.
Why, I'm happy you actually used that word there, I get to put you straight about it.
Here's a little definition of what a scrub is in a competitive game: http://www.sirlin.net/ptw-book/introducingthe-scrub
"A scrub is a player who is handicapped by self-imposed rules that the game knows nothing about. A scrub does not play to win."
"In reality, the “scrub” has many more mental obstacles to overcome than anything actually going on during the game. The scrub has lost the game even before it starts."
"The scrub would take great issue with this statement for he usually believes that he is playing to win, but he is bound up by an intricate construct of fictitious rules that prevents him from ever truly competing."
Hey, that almost describes you(obvious exaggeration there, it exactly describes you).
You lack knowledge about the game so heavily, that you can't even imagine how it could possibly exist without your self imposed rules(in this case, don't run from lost fights, or a cowardly ♥♥♥♥♥). The true competitive attitude is trying every exploitable aspect of a game, and see what works. Sometimes a game IS shallow, in that case people just stop playing.
Given that there's a pro scene full of "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" who run away cowardly when they'd die, you're clearly wrong and need to learn much more about the game, but regardless of the game's depth, your way of thinking limits you in actually growing.
Just to be clear, properly running away without getting caught and dying is an important skill, which you will completely lack later on if you think like you do now. People will be better at chasing down kills, as that is yet another skill that improves over time. If you completely ignore both, eventually you'll be ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by a horse dildo with no lube every damn time, because you cried how everyone is a cowardly ♥♥♥♥♥ who dares run for their life, and you'll feed your guts out every game pointlessly with your fps machismo of "hey you just need to play better, ♥♥♥♥ the actual circumstances".
tl;dr: Learn the actual game instead of whining how people play it.
Waaaah every one i disagree with is a troll waaaaah
That's cute. You run away because you suck and cant bare the thought of losing so you exploit the game and call it "strategy". LOL then you attack me and pretend you have any clue as to what you're talking about. Your hilarious connotation of scrub is irrelevant because you know exactly what connotation i was using. But i doubt you actually know what "connotation" means so i digress.
People who run away to recharge after theyve killed a bunch of enemies or escape a massive brawl are one thing. When all you do is hit and run, you're trash and ONCE AGAIN if every one did that there would be no game. It's like people who camp in shooters. If every one did it, there would be no match.
Except hit and tun IS a viable tactic that is used throughout history as well. If done well, it's effective.
Bastet and Serqet are basically designed to play that way.
Beyond that, it can;
- Save you
- Bait the enemy into moving out of position
- Delay death for your team to come help you/return the kill
- Distract the enemy so they don't do other objectives
Hit and Run is not even close to camping. It doesn't have the same effect either. Campers will sit in that one strong spot (then maybe move to the next to camp there). Hit and Run puts you in a vulnerable position whilst you attack, and if you get caught out, you can easily die.
To do what you suppose to do on forum (answer what is asked):
Most times as you have pointed out ("have not run into cowards first few games") you will run into plenty of actual fights but there are a couple where people will be massive cowardly if they all say in same clan (which case they pathetic people that are grouped up and communicating to be cowardly which can be anything from being bad at game and having to use a sad strat. dispite already being in a group or trolling or whatever else) Or if your team is just dominating to easy / have a certain god group (like if they have many assasins or excel late game and your opposite) in which case they are intimated and depending on mode and capability you can punish them by pushing them or they are waiting for moment they get ults/a team mate of yours screws up / your team used everything up and then they will try and wipe you out with good chance.
As for 2nd part what if both teams do this, Yes this makes game Boring and causes what I said (each team waiting for "perfect" moment) and this likely will run throughout most the game until 1 team starts getting the ball rolling down the hill (snowballing).
=========================================================================
Keep in mind modes will also greatly effect this;
Arena will have most fights
Conquest will have least
Siege will have typically always have fights at least when there a siege beast
Assault often will have 1 team of cowards (until mention "perfect" chance) and this can rotate
Joust will depend entirely on teams (likely if 1 member likes to go alone fight ensues lots)
Motd typically filled with 2nd most amount of fights since many are made for fun / fights
Closing: I highly suggest you never play the "classic" mobas like Dota as they are designed to be way more cowards and a ton of back and forth movement by game design basically, while smite just has some.
Yellow colours have nothing to do with Smite or HiRez. I believe they were a Steam thing a while back.
The colour of my name means I'm a Moderator. However, I don't work for HiRez/Titan Forge, and am happy to give my actual opinion on the game, good and bad.
Communication is important, calling it cowardly just reinforces the "scrub" definition posted before. If you don't communicate and your enemy does, you lose. You don't have to be in a party to do this, just effective use of VGS - which is possible with random solo queuers, I've done it plenty of times.
In theory, if both teams play like that, nothing happens. But people aren't like that. They get impatient, they make mistakes. They think "I'll try and bait them out a little", so they do. Then fights ensue. It's not cowardly, it's using your head.
I'd expect play to be like that if both teams had late-game comps.
Fortunately, in Conquest at least, you have a Jungler, so you'll usually see fights across different lanes as they gank them where necessary.
In other modes, it just depends on the team comps. No one is going to walk into Nox, Morrigan, Ares, and Da Ji for instance, They'll run away, as they should.
