That's the only part of the instant cast I don't like. Though, the actual area the abilities will hit does show briefly, so I have some idea of what I will be hitting.
Would be nicer if it at least put it on Quick Cast, rather than instant.
Titan forge -> t!ts' an' frog
Can't come up with better for now.
He doesnt have Combat CC and what I mean by that is a lack of a Silence or Disarm. He can Stun but its a very short one thats obviously on his ult or the Big Ult that is also tremendously underwhelming. You can again "In theroy" get two of them off in a decently short amount of time.
A god like Tyr can use his skills effectively to stun while doing damage to set up or outplay an ADC or Mage while Arthur is incapable of doing that whatsoever. Tyr has GOOD dashes that actually move him at an accelerated speed and also eithr Disarm or have a strong knock-up/damage on them.
A 40% slow doesnt stop you from being bursted down. A 1.25 second cripple doesnt stop damage from hitting you. A tiny knockup is nothing more then a disruption. The Blue 3 is a good skill because its short and has a Shread on it (a weak one but still a shread) even if the dash is short but again it wont stop damage.
But the worst offender is his Orange 3. It CAN get you like 10 energy if you land the full skill which helps getting your ult. It CAN do like 600+ damage in an AOE if you land the whole skill but it doesnt actually increase your movement speed and its behind easily avoided or interupted. Using that skill in a teamfight or while boxing 9/10 times gets you killed because you cant even cancel the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ skill.
His passive is bad, like really bad. You have to land 4 skills before it takes effect for a whopping 6% damage mitigation which in case you dont know Cabraken has a similar passive. Cabrakan has just a flat 5% damage mitigation for himself and anyone close to him (Might say its not fair to compare a Guardian to a Warrior but they're both bruisers). Cabrakans passive at least has team utility and his passive is useless, he might as well not even have one so imagine how terrible Arthur's is in comparison.
Well I have him at Mastery level 3 now and I can say the best way of describing arthur is imagine a god with 4 skills spread out over 8 abilties. I'm sure after another week he'll find a niche underwhelming role but as is he is one of the worst Warriors without a doubt.
Arthur also has a knockup and a Ne Zha-like ult (though the latter seems hard to do regularly due to the Energy requirement), with the ultimate being good for setting up for Burst mages (similar to Ne Zha).
The ultimate is a low CD, so can be used to set up fairly often with it's Stun, which seems to do well with certain ADCs is duo lane from what I have seen others do (though that may be because he is new).
For sustain, Gladiators Shield helps a ton for Arthur, 6 abilities plus his 2 ultimates is a lot of things to heal from. I've also seen some people build Soul Eater, though I don't know if that's worth it.
They both have problems with changing stance, but Tyr's is probably a worse one due to the CD, whereas Arthur needs to use an ability.
Arthur also has very good escape potential. AAs will lunge him, and cancelling them into abilities removes the movement penalty. So, AA -> Red 2 -> AA -> Blue 3 -> AA -> Red 3 gets you a lot of distance. The last being used mostly to remove the movement penalty, and deal some damage if someone does somehow keep up/ganks you.
Tyr's escape is short, only has 1 depending on the Stance Switch CD (with stance switching also taking time), and his Ultimate (high CD). Though his ultimate is at least CC immune.
Except His Ult for some reason only does significant damage at level 20 and is better against tanks then Squishies. I dare you to Big Ult someone at level 5 and see how terrible it is. His Excalibur's Wrath is double the energy and barely better then the Line Jab which can just be spammed constantly like a normally ability for far greater results.
Sustain in fight is okay with Glad but it forces you to build into that item while Tyr just has built in Sustain. The only thing Arthur has is his effectiveness vs. Slows since his 3 "dashes " all give him slow immunity. 1 of which (the Red 3) doesnt even increase your movement speed or if it does its an unnoticable amount.
You could say Tyr has a a harder time swapping stance sure but his stance swap actually does something like reseting his skills. Oh and he also gains passive bonuses depending on the stance hes in. Because 50 prot or 50? power is a way better bonus then Arthur's terrible excuse of a passive and thats not even Tyr's real passive. Tyr has one of if not the strongest passives in game with the ability to reduce all CC to 1 second. Except Polymorphs unfortunately, which should be addressed and updated TBH.
You think that his escape potential is great when in practice its not at all because just like his damage it takes WAY to long to do anything. Auto canceling into short range dashes sounds good on paper but in reality a quick and effective dash that also has CC on it is way easier to escape with then a BLOCKABLE DASH (his Red 2), a Short range dash (Blue 3, which is a good skill I admit), and what is essentially a just slow immune walking animation thats very easy to interupt (His Red 3).
You know the cool thing about Ne zha ult is that you have to Beads BEFORE he takes you up. Arthur doesnt get that luxery. You can beads at any point during the ult and if we're in the process of comparing ults. Ne Zha can easiyl follow up on the ult since he comes down at the same time as the enemy while AGAIN Arthur does not.
He's easily interupted and countered by litterally anyone on the enemy team. ADCs will just auto you down, 90% of mages will just hit you with 1 CC then walk away or better yet litterally just walk away since you dont do Burst only "Damage" over 10 seconds to get your whole combo off. Assassins just like Mages will either just flat out kill you with their damage or hit you with one CC skill to stop you mid combo.
My Issue with Arthur is that hes not good at anything and mediocre at everything. He has CC but its all very weak. He has Damage but it takes 3x the time as any other Warrior to get off. He has damage mitigation but its not even close to relevant.
Why play Arthur for CC when I could just play a Guardian with more CC, more defense with base stats (more CC means harder to kill too), and more then often way better damage.
Why play Arthur when other Warriors do more damage, faster, and safer? Including Tyr
But definitely one of the lower end gods that have been released, which is a nice change of pace rather than them being dumbfoundly broken... or still are (Hera)
he literally has double the cc tyr has.
im not gonna lie that arthur is pretty underwhelming, but the way everyone is screaming about how underpowered he is makes me sick. i dont think anyone understands how out of control a character designed like this can get if he gains any direct buffs to either cc or damage. anyone remember release rat, where he could dash through the whole team multiple times with huge damage?
his abilities should be refined, and then see where he stands after that. he already deals decent damage with a hybrid build (which is what you are supposed to build!) and survives very well with warriors blessing/glad shield.
edit: im quite sure they also screwed up the description for his combat stance 3, it isnt supposed to be a dash, its just supposed to be an AOE that you can control, just like ratatoskr or thor's AOEs. it should be able to be cancelled, as well as his other dash and ultimate.
Tyr's charge/knockback can insta carries/mages, let alone 1s from any CC is a pretty big deal.
But yes damage isn't everything, granted in Season 5 it seems to be mostly damage focused anyways as easy as it is to shread anything tanky currently.
Well of course damage isnt everything but what else is he supposed to have? Hes listed as High AOE Damage and High CC. He is underpowered but he isnt the worse god release. I do agree he really just needs some slight tune ups and not much more then obviously fix his buggy animations.
You need to build full defense or MAYBE 1 or 2 hybrid items and anything else results in death. Pure Damage just gets your ass killed from all your long animations and short range abilities which means he lacks any sort of variety, which whatever thats fine and not really a point.
You know if you look at this base numbers he also has litterally more then double the damage Tyr has too. Just base numbers without scaling or the % damage of Arthur's ult is; Tyr's 1360 damage to Arthur's 2,550 damage and of course he then does his damage in a much wider area but yet hes still underwhelming? I wonder why that is?
Maybe it has to do with the fact that Tyr can do his entire kit in roughly 4 seconds while half of his kit forces the enemy into an immobile state (being carried by the fearless) and also while being incredibly mobile during his damage (dashing twice and ulting). Arthur on the other hand takes about 10 full seconds to use his whole kit and ONLY his Biggest Ult renders the enemy unable to fight back.
So you have Tyr thats harder to hit, CCs the exact enemies who could be returning damage back to him or his team and does his (albeit lower damage) in a shorter span of time. Tyr can set up multiple plays to begin, during, or end a fight because of the strength of his Fearless and the CC attachted to it. Which also enables him to outplay and dodge skillshots/autos during the downtime of his skills since when they come back up its damage, CC, and healing in his pocket instead of some awkward trade.
Then you have Arthur whos FORCED quite litterally into uncancelable lengthy animations that do "more" damage with some light CC attached to them. A proper ult can stop someone and set up for a team but good luck doing that with any of his other skills.
The most effective combo ive found for him is Blink -> Red 1 to cripple -> Blue 2 to swap stance -> Red 2 for knockup -> Blue 1 for close high damage -> then immedietly ULT. If you do everything quickly and without throwing janky autos out in between they'll be crippled into a knockup/damage and before they hit the ground you ult them. It also leaves your dashes open for followup. But even then all of that would be done faster, with more setup for team, and easier if you just Fearlessed someone or Herc Driving Striked him.
Arthur is such an awkward god. Hes intended to stay in a lengthy fight to build his energy and get all of his skills off to deal consistant AOE damage while making the enemies job slightly harder with his CC. He just takes way to long to do it, has a terrible passive that doesnt help him survive long enough in fights, and with no built in sustain it makes it hard to stay in a fight or simply return to a fight if low after healing.
This post should be canonized. Beautifully written.
Another great post.
He has double the cc tyr has.
No one is useful.
