SMITE
So.. 16 gb new update...
Aaaaand they still haven't fixed Kuzenbo's god builder.

This thing has been broken now at about 9 different occassions, most of these happening last year around Hera's release and despite this issue being reported for months, it has STILL not been fixed in this version.

Is there nothing but interns left at Hi-Rez at this point?

They had a similar issue on the Switch and it was fixed within a month after being reported.

why in the ♥♥♥♥ is this 16 gigs???
Yaximus Jan 28, 2020 @ 12:14pm
Well 16Gb is not a bigger dowload but... Why... that is patetic!!! basicly is the entire game >:V
16gigs... yeah something has screwed up, games only 21gigs on my HD... why in the ♥♥♥♥ would they need to replace most of the game for a new Seasons patch? Given the majority of the games size is from the character models, Sound and VFX files... its not like they made changes on every single god in every single aspect?

For you maybe but its a 4 hour download for me at full speed which will take all the bandwidth. Also what about people with capped monthly ISP plans?... 16gig could be a sizable chunk of it... Havent had a Smite patch over 600megs in ages, Last time i had a Smite patch this big was when I had to reinstall it and even that wasnt this big.

16gigs and what do we get? They could at the very least post something about the update to describe its enormity.

I'm willing to bet that's Nintendo pressuring them to fix their ♥♥♥♥. We don't have that luxury on PC.
Just read that the PC install size has been lowered, as in the game is gonna take up less room on your HD now. I guess this is basically a complete reinstall of the game more or less.

Granted 16gig compared to the 21gig on my HD isnt the 50% reduction in size they said it would be... barely a 1/4 reduction.

Im more pissed about Shamans ring being removed... one item i used to get all the time on the mages i used to play (all who happen to be DoT users or hard hitting combos like Posiden, Zhong, Merlin etc), but supposedly it was hardly used by people (read pros and ranked because thats all Hirez care about) so it got removed. At least my other always get item Chronos Pendant for buffed, and the Tyrants helm looks nice.

Looks like Magus is the new Shamans ring, kinda... So i guess its not to bad... although seems like flat pen has been nerfed across teh board being % based now. i could at least get almost true dmg on most mages and the like with the right pen items, but now nope, sure it helps on Guardians and teh like but as a Guardian player myself that just means with a few items my Prots will mean even ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ less now. Was bad enough being deleted in seconds with 200+ prots, now its gonna be less than a second GG.

Oh and they made Nemians ever ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥... i mean the 25% returned dmg before was nothing but a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ tickle to Hunters before now its at 15% pretty much a slap with a wet paper bag, but hey Hirez LOVE their hunters, cant have some Gaurdian or Warrior actually being an issue for a Hunter after all that would be blasphemy right?

Edit:- Seems Magus does still have Pen.

Engine Updates
Engineering changes have been made to our build process (how the game and its updates are packaged for distribution to players) to improve the installing, storing, and loading of game files.
Decreased update sizes. This will not be present in 7.1 as a full download is required on PC to pick up these changes. Consoles will not require a full download, but it this update will still be larger than usual to pick up these changes. Future updates in Season 7 should require smaller downloads than they did in Season 6, depending on how much content is changed in each update.
Decreased total install size on PC, cutting it down by almost 50%.
Decreased load times and start up times on PC. This could be a significantly large improvement (faster by up to 1-2 minutes!) depending on players PC specs and anti-virus software. Console should also see slight improvements from this, but not as intense as PC.
Graphical Improvements – the high quality texture pack will now be downloaded and installed by default in SMITE PC, which will improve the look of the game when at “high” settings. Maximum will also be improved (unless you already had the texture pack installed).
Future updates this year will include more changes like this. It will be an ongoing process.

Was playing Smite on ps4 a while back and felt like playing again. I just got done downloading the game after like 14 hours(overnight and wasn't fully done after waking up). That was like 13 GB, now I gotta wait another 16 GB. What a waste.

I knew this was going to happen and have been mentioning it a lot in help threads. No one reads the damn patch notes. Yes the "Update" is 16 gigs because they basically recompiled the game instead of vase game + addons.

They have been using the IE way of patching up to this point aka keep tacking crap on as we go, but it leads to compat issues and slowness. This is the only way to really fix it is to roll all the patches into the game then reinstall the new engine.

I'm sorry if your in Australia a or a country that has caps, but In US unless your very rural you should be on broadband at speeds of 100Mb which is base. I live in Wisconsin and even in smaller towns thats the norm, Hell down near Milwaukee 200Mb is the base speed.
