CAN WE PLEAS CHANGE THE NAME OF INACTIVE PLAYERS !
Hello!

I had recently tried contacting HiRez about this issue. What issue you might ask? Plenty of names are locked to peoples accounts who haven't played more then 1 game in over a year. Why is this problem? Some people much like myself, have specific gaming names they use from game to game. For those of us who stream under these names, have friends under these names, and a reputation with the name. It makes it extremely annoying.

Assuming, a few things, I feel it should be easily possible to do this, while being fair.

Players under level 5, or evel level 10, who have not played in over say, 6-8months. Probably don't plan on returning anytime soon. (While I can't speak for all of them, we can assume many of them won't) Some may be waiting for release.

I feel that, as long as the account hasn't had any gem purchases, is under level 10 or 5, and hasnt played in 6-8 months. Their names should be "released" should a current and active player request it.

This practice isnt something new. It's been done by a just about every single MMO (WoW, Rift, and others) its also been done by another Moba game. League of Legends.

This idea not only helps players like myself who are stuck using a different name, due to an inactive account. (in my case the account has 2 total matches played, and is a year old. Only reason I didn't get the name was he joined 3 days before me)

This also generates money for HiRez.

In theory, if 1 out of every 10 players, has a different name then they wanted, and say, 5 out of every 10 players who dont have their name, are lost to inactive accounts, if all those players were to buy 400 gems for the name change, thats a good chunk of the total player base buying gems for the name change.

For me, that seems like a win win.

It makes more sense to me, to take care of, and cater to your current active players, then to gamble with the chances of a returning inactive player.

What are your guys thoughts on this?

While I see your point, especially with regards to known Streamers/Youtubers, I don't think it's enough of an issue to do anything about it.

Streamers/YouTubers will be showing the gameplay and viewers will see their name in their content, so the reputation hit is minor. Anyone who knows who they are, probably watches their content, and will see the name change.
Anyone who wonders why they are being toxic when it's out of character - and cares about it - will likely check that persons channel and see if it has changed. If they don't care, it doesn't matter. If they don't like the person, it likely won't change anything either.
