What are you doing with him currently? There isn't really much thought involved in using him apart from positioning yourself in a way that you don't get needlessly killed.
To be more specific;
- What items do you typically buy? (ideally why you do as well)
- How do you use his abilities currently?
- How do you approach a fight (1v1 and team fights)
- Are you having trouble with overall damage for the match, or just bursting someone down during a fight?
With Zeus, you'll typically want to use the 3 (Detonate) last, as it deals more damage the more stacks of his passive are applied to someone. Up to 3 stacks can be applied per person, so you want as many as you can before detonating, though they only last a short time.
The Shield (2nd ability) will allow the 1 to bounce off of it, so you can use it as part of his Chain Lightning (1st ability) to extend the 1's reach.
The 1 will chain from person to person, including enemy minions, leaving them with a stack of Zeus's passive for use with Detonate.
The ultimate will put a big AOE, every time it ticks some damage is dealt to enemies in the area, and a stack of his passive is applied (again, for Detonate).
His Basic Attacks (left click) also apply his passive, 1 stack per hit.
Starting a fight, you want to hit your Chain Lightning (1), so you might combo that with your 2.
Alternatively, if you have a good target for your ultimate (a couple of enemies within it's AOE range), you might start with the ultimate, put down your 2 near them ready for the Chain Lightning and Detonate.
I'd suggest trying all his abilities out in Jungle Practice. That should give you some targets to test the abilities out on.
if your opponent is dumb enough to pick a stupid god that he has to get close to you... if your smart you can pick him off and make him turtle but he'll get lucky eventually
I think recalleddread gave a more in depth answer
You don't really need more than 2, maybe 3 on anyone as a general rule. Any more than that is usually wasted.
If you are after squishy targets, Maybe just Spear of Desolation and Magi's Boots (purple ones).
If you need more for tanks, Obsidian Shard on top of that should be fine.
Your tank will likely have Void Stone as well.
with ult 4 2 1 on shield 3
so you do z z z z z STRK
Throw out the shield hit it with his chain lightning wait a second or two to avoid aegis and allow any chain lighting bounces to build up... then hit detonate and profit.
Or throw out his ult then the rest of the combo, although his ult doesnt do to much to a smart team but it will give you that extra detonate stack you might not have gotten with your combo otherwise.
Granted im mostly Arena which makes his combo easier to land since its usually always a team fight. I tend to level detonate first, shield last, ult when ever able and his chain after detonate. Gem of Iso is important to me (usually build after boots or third) since it helps keep people inside his combo and ult a little longer, and shamans ring is usually a second build or first for me since that directly benefits his combo by a large margin.
