How does Titan HP regeneration work?

Even after 700ish hours of playtime, I still do not understand how Titan HP regeneration works. Could someone tell me this?

If the phoenix is destroyed, it doesnt regen hp or it barely regens hp, if the phoenix is up, it will regen hp faster

Also if you step into the titan's range when there are no minions and it wakes up to fight, and then leave the titan's figth range so it goes back to 'idle' state, it instantly regains like 25% HP.

I was gonna say what shadow said, lots of people don't even know that. It's annoying having a team mate that tries attacking the titan then ends up regenerating its health lol..

The Titan regenerates about a 5th or so of it's maximum health everytime it's aggroed by a god with NO minions, if a minion wave enters the Titan room first, then the regen won't happen. I don't know how fast it's health recovers when the Pheonixes are up, but I do know it won't regen at all outside of god aggro if all 3 are down, and will regen quickly along with being invincible if all 3 are alive.
