It uses direct x 11 instead of direct x 9.

DX11 allows things like Bokeh DoF, Tessellation, Image based reflections, MSAA, and SSS.

Or for short, it uses nicer graphical effects

dx9 is becoming outdated so if u played games released in last few years u can definetly run it.

It caused memory leaks only on release, currently it does not cause any performance loss (I'm using it since patch) and tbh I can't see any difference between dx11 and dx9 versions of smite

I ve had multiple crashes and weird camera lags at times..also some ability fx and basic attack dx are missing sometimes when using dx11.

DX11 is beta. Use at your own risk. It's not as bad as the first beta run of it, but like I said use at your own risk.

It can offer a performance gain over dx9, and it allows for better visuals when they get added.

DX11 runs a 20fps slower for me but seems really crisp and easier to see everything

That would require a new engine.

For me enabling the D3D11 beta caused crashes when loading games and alt-tabbing for example.
YOu can try it for a time, but I'd disable it if it casues too many problems
