How f2p friendly is this compared to something like LoL?
Better or worse? When i mean f2p i mean getting champions or gods in this case.

Snip

Thx for the explanation, and something good to see is how they ban gods from ranked when they change something they never do in LoL, which makes from some one sided games when ppl decide trying new champs in ranked is fun
Oh yeah, that was one of the things I really liked about Smite that I still don't understand about LoL (except that they can make more money forcing people to buy the new OP champ with RP just to maintain their Rank...) because it just makes sense that when you release a new god or rework them drastically and you aren't sure how they'll fall in the balance of the game to keep them out of Ranked for a few weeks until you have the data...

So yes, Smite and TF2 have been two of my favorite games for years for being about as close to pure-F2P as it is possible to get and for a few other good design features like that.

what about dota 2 or paragon where all characters are unlocked for free right at the begining?

Those are probably the "purest" end of the F2P spectrum (I did say "about as close"), since you still have to unlock gods in Smite (though they give away a lot of Favor) and you still have to obtain the weapon drops in TF2 (though that happens pretty quickly as well). Having all playable characters unlocked right away is awesome, but very few games do that, so kudos to DOTA2 and especially to Paragon as I was unaware that they were going with that model also.

But apart from that level of things, Smite is quite F2P friendly; lots of giveaways. I hate spending money on games, because I'm a cheapskate, but Smite won me over so I have invested a small but decent amount of money in the game over the 2 years I've been playing.

oh my bad, I thought you were saying smite is the most f2p game. But I totally agree with you that smite is a pretty free to play game. I also like the all gods pack, cuz it lets you skip the grind for not that high of a price. In league your only choice to skip the grind is to buy any packs that they have and then buy the leftover characters individually.

Precisely. And while I think it's admirable of games like DOTA2 and Paragon to offer all characters for free off the bat, most games can't monetarily support themselves that way, so I love the Ultimate God Pack method and the fact that they give so much Favor out anyway, so long as you're playing the game. It's part of how I think Smite retains so much of its player base even if it hasn't grown a lot over the years. I don't fully understand why it doesn't grow, but hopefully that happens because I really like this game.

totally agree. My only real issue with smite is them not representing the gods 100%

Mostly because people don't know anyone that plays Smite lol. Plus people have been playing other MOBA's for so long already. Also the MOBA genre really isn't that popular.

What I really don't get is why with game modes that aren't Conquest there is so much trouble pulling other people. One of my favorite things about Smite is I can play super casual in Assault and not even have to worry about deciding which god/role I want to play.
