When should I play Conquest ?
Very new player here -- here and in other games I am very much a team player -- currently my kills suck but my assists are usually pretty high, and I help defend my teammates and destroy towers and Phoenixes -- Usually stick to Clash and Arena but ultimately want to play the big Conquest Map (just played it a few times) -- problem is any guide I read or stories I hear seem to be Hunter and Guardian MUST do Left Lane Mage MUST do mid Lane, etc -- and my game style in any game is to say, hit Left Lane 3 or 4 times, then switch it up to right, help here, then defend here, etc ....... works pretty good in Clash, but apparently Conquest Isn't just a bigger map with more towers and a 3rd Lane -- WILL NOT Play anymore until Im better at this game (Currently Lv19) - but really don't want to play at all If my defined Role is only to work one side of the Map over and over -- can see myself sticking to Clash 80% of the time -- any thoughts/advice ?? (sorry for the Length, just wanted to fully explain my playstyle and concerns)

As soon as possible really. At lower levels, you should be matched with other low levels in casual conquest. These other lower levels will also still be learning the game like you. At least that's the idea with matchmaking but we all know it can be a little iffy at times.

As for your concern about playstyles, you definitely do need to learn and understand the meta. Otherwise you'll just annoy your teammates and be more of a hindrance than an asset.

What the jungler does is kinda just that, moves from lane to lane helping out teamates.

You style as you describe it, is fine for Clash. Conquest has a more specific meta, if you don't follow it, you might be hindering your teams ability to win. For the jungler, it is pretty much what you describe, but only after the initial part of the game.

At the start, you'd do Speed with Solo (jungler takes it), then Mana buff with/for solo. Then you have a choice. You either, sit in lane with solo until the end of the wave/enemy has died (depends on how they are playing), then take elementals (fire giant minions), or you go straight to Mid XP camps. After that, Jungler goes wherever its needed, clearing camps along the way (maybe even stealing enemy ones).

Of course, metas change, so next season this will likely be irrelevant depending on changes they make, and if you're with a team, you might want to try other things, but stick to meta if you're new for learning purposes.

Support doesn't just sit in lane either, they will for a few levels, until the ADC/Hunter can safely clear, then support will start to rotate to other lanes. ADC will puosh thier lane, keeping pressure up there whilst the rest of the team advances elsewhere. Solo will also do this at the start (maybe until first tower is down), then they'll also rotate sometimes (whilst still pushing their own to keep pressure up). Mid is pretty much the same as Solo, but probably more important to be ahead in (again to keep pressure on).

I would say start as soon as you feel comfortable doing so. It was the first mode I played, without prior moba experience, and I managed to find a few people who helped me learn in my first few games. If you can, find a group of people (or even just 1) who are willing to join you in Conquest and show you the meta and basic flow of the mode.

I made the mistake of never playing conquest now that im lvl 30 its very hard to get into since there is a gaint knowlage spike.

I tried it only to get BM and reported ...

my suggestion start from as early as possible when other players are also still figuering out what the hell they are doing

Thank you all for the advice (esp the Lengthy one Recalled Dread) -- apparently I need to start playing Conquest NOW before I'm with Lv 30s (very helpful) -- I do know at Least the basics of the roles (need more Guardian and Assassin practice) and will probably stick with Hunter or Mage for now -- anyone else out there go ahead and heap some more advice at me -- Thanks !!

This is precisely why I don't play Conquest.

My suggestion, OP, is if you're really interested in playing Conquest, to find people to play with on regular basis. Especially considering you are a team player kind of person, you'd have exponentially more fun playing with a regular few people, learning from them, building rapport and learning how to fight with each other.

It's an entirely different experience with just a couple friends, you don't even need a full party. Reddit is an excellent resource as well for information, builds, and contacting people who can help you learn Conquest. Like I said, I don't play Conquest much, so can't offer you help there.

Hope that helps;

By the way, like others said already: Start playing conquest as soon as you can, to get placed with even players.

I'd seriously suggest finding some friends to do custom matches on the Conquest map where they can go through and show you the ropes. Otherwise, if you have learned the gods and items and mechanics from playing other modes and just need to learn the Conquest game mode, there's lots of information out there to learn from, but you do just have to learn by playing at some point.

Check out the pinned beginner's guides thread at the top of the discussions page. Also check out the guides section here on Steam.

Beyond that, you'll want to read up on abilities, items, and builds at places like smite.guru, tiermonster.com, and tentonhammer.com.

Google Smite Tier Lists for information on which gods are considered good at certain roles in different game modes and which ones are not.

Also, watch Twitch streams and YouTube channels like DukeSloth, Raynday, Incon, Weak3n, NShadow, and samdadude for information on how to tie it all together. I find seeing how other people use the abilities of all the gods helps it stick in my head better than just reading it in a Wiki or on the gods section of the game.

Be patient. Learn everything you can because there is a ton to learn. The mute button in Tab is your friend when people are mean. Try to focus on when you have nice and especially helpful teammates and try adding them to your Friends list after the game.
