Why is aegis even a thing?

For a while aegis has been the most frustrating element and relic used in the game by (lesser) players. I personally have heard loads of excuses to why aegis is needed in the game but to no avail I never use it and manage to do great things without it so that brings up the question...Why is this relic even in the game to begin with??? I can count numerous times where I have been cheated out of a penta kill because of this relic or where I will completely outplay someone and they just fat finger the relic out of panic. People say that the relic is essential to be actually good at the game but I have made it all the way to level 30 and even beaten grandmasters (I dont even play ranked) who use the relic while i just stick with meditation and blink. You can be on a total asskicking roll and some loser can ruin the fun by using aegis. Its weird because when I talk to other players who use aegis they just say im bad for using meditation instead of aegis. All my friends dont see it as needed in the game (beads are totally fine tho) nor do i so whats the deal? Are most players really THAT bad?

thats part of the skill in this game, know when to back off of kills because eventually there team will flank and collapse on you

its hard to when you have a factor of 2 seconds that may or may not get used. I am not trying to say I am pro at this game, and I don't try too hard to be. I don't sit there and time everyones abilities and relics, neither do people in my current matchmaking range, nor my team mates.

Regardless of how anyone uses it, I just think it would be interesting to see just how good some people really are without aegis (or any/all relics I guess).

honestly if anything it will inflate people's "skill" cuz some cheap tactics would go off without any issue.
