SMITE
Is autobuy viable/useful?
I have a friend that I play with regularly, and he uses autobuy for his god builds no matter what character or game mode we play, which I personally don't really think is a wise thing to do, because then if you need to change up your set-to-buy build a little to counter enemy gods, you need to go into the inventory and find it manually instead of just having it there in your build in case you need it such as one time as an example, Odin was on the enemy team and we needed more than one Phantom Veil. He couldn't get it because he had his build on autobuy, essentially ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ us over. What does the community think of this?

Its not a wise decision to autobuy,,

Shouldn't ever really use that feature. It's mostly directed towards beginners to take off the stress of buying things, but players should definitely make the effort to learn items/builds. I suppose people who aren't willing to learn things like that use autobuy, but the builds by autobuy are usually not good and it can wreck a chance to win. I recommend you trying to convince your friend to not use autobuy, for your team's sake.

It's viable and usefull starting out, but(depending how competitive you want to play) it will become a hindrance as you are matched against more skillful opponents.

The only time I use it is sometimes in Arena for specific gods for which my build rarely changes. It shortens the time i spend at the fountain. And when I need to change the build for a reason, i simply remove the auto-buy for the rest of the match. Other than than, I wouldn't recommend keeping it on.

EDIT: I'm using builds that i created, not the standard ones.

So you are asking us to support your opinion about your friend. Correct?

No... I was just wondering if it was a thing that people use regularly. lol

No.

Autobuy does not allow you to counter build or even build too specifically to your god. Hirez is not going to determine what each gods new best general build is every time the meta changes

Autobuy is decent if it's your first day playing but after that first day you're going to want to learn how to build and buy on your own or you'll only be hurting yourself in the long run.

I haven't used it in a long time but when I had used it it was never a correct or optimal build. If it's your first day and you know little on the game you'd probably be able to build better.

<--- auto skill,, never auto buy

Auto-buy is, by far, the most damaging feature you can use. It's not useless, otherwise it wouldn't change your gameplay, it's just bad. Even auto skill has more merits than auto buy because it gives you finger freedom when you play most gods, and you can modify your skill order in the god builder. Even if you can change item builds in the god builder (which you can), you still run into the issue of counterbuilding, which is a vital thing to know.

It's good for starting out and lets you focus more on playing the game. I bought SMITE before it was on Steam and I think I only used Auto-buy for a few weeks, I always played Ah Muzen Cab and I found the early auto-buys to be not the best. With Ah Muzen Cab I liked to switch at end game and go more crit, if you new then it's good if you still using it weeks later you should think about stopping it.

Prob best to Google a few builds and play about with what suits your style of play TBH.
