However to do this you would first have to uninstall from Steam and uninstal Hi-Rez Auth and update program from Windows APPs.
Then you'll be able to install the none-Steam version but you'll have to update it from scratch and jump though the hoops, which may in the end be quicker than waiting.
I don't know why Valve is even a middle man in this situation, most games that do not require Valve as a server host use it simply as a glorified client launcher. Don't know why Hi-Rez is using Steam in this way.
