Power score and matchmaking?
Not sure if I am getting matched up with people way above my power score or whether they are making more efficient use of their building materials for a lower power score despite having high level gear.

Are there power score brackets where the game will match you up with people below a certain bracket or is the game set up so that the high level players who spent oodles of time and money can enter a game matched up against plebs with rusty peashooters and scrap?

Below level 10 wasn't too bad, I did get matched up with quite a few players rare equipment and fancy paint jobs but so long as you took out their most powerful guns first you could manage them, however on reaching level 10 and finally getting my first blue chassis and machine gun I am now constantly being matched with guys with homing missles and drones and all sorts of stuff that will strip your car in an instant.

Are there more resilient armour pieces that can take some punishment without falling off? Finding it hard to keep my guns attached, anyone got any advice?

Power score isn`t everything. You can go overboard on armor & have a inflated power score with noob guns. Not good. It starts getting tricky around 5500ps.

You just stumbled upon one of Crossout's biggest issues. Yes, the match maker does indeed not care how much damage a car can deal or take, only about its power score. And that does a really poor job at indicating how powerful one actually is.

Many players exploit this, so that they can "sealclub" lowbies; farming points and resources while preventing them from getting any.

Armor is not a solution. The high-tier weapons can easily blow them off.
If you want to win, you need to kill your opponents before they can deal serious damage to you. And the way to do that is to get better weapons first of all.

1. You should know whether you're getting matched with higher power score players or not. Pressing Tab in-match opens up a screen that shows power scores, you can also see power scores at beginning and end of match.

2. Yes, there are "more efficient" choices for points spent. Like some armors provide higher structure per power score point used.

My guess is you built up, you're at level 10, now you're building stuff with 2500-2800 points or so. So you're playing with other players that have that amount of points and that's when you start seeing homing missiles and stuff. That's just how it is.

Learn to stick together, learn to use cover, learn how to build. The higher you go, the more important those things are.

Also take into account support items. A lot of newbies tend to toss a lot of armor on, and use 5 cords.... and be in the 4k range PS... no.. no.. no. Personally I think if your starting out pick a blue weapon, get 2 of them, use a white if you have roomfor 3rd.. BUT don't forget a engine (light is good for lower PS builds..makes a nice difference).. also don't forget about coolers/radiators etc.

Rads for machine guns, miniguns types.
Coolers for shotguns
Cannons you want ammo packs, and engines that reduce weapon cool down.

That should help.

Also remember you can get the same "rewards" from fighting at 2k as you do at 10k. 1200 is the base cap per match XP unless you have rep items/flags/daily xp bonus.

But just enjoy the game and learning. There is a lot of misinformation thrown around in general chat. Ignore it.

Ok so it is brackets based around power level? Good to know, I guess the mistake I was making was trying to hit the structure limit put as many layers of expendable armour protecting my chassis, but when your weapons are attached to those armour pieces and they take out your weapons there really isnt much you can do, I guess it is better to tank the hits with a chassis that can take the hits rather than rely on armour or do you want to have at least some armour protecting vulnerable parts and weapons?

Pretty sure theres some sort of level detection also.
As soon as i hit 10, Didnt matter what type of PS i had, I was against purple equips/loadouts.
(dropped my ps back to 2k as soon as i hit 10, instead of 4.5k) Still the same enemies. Sooo Yeahhh.
180 monies to go for a purple D:

i faced the same situation, i think the culprit is that one blue part u installed...which throws u into matches with ppl using blue parts also.
Mirage Jul 29, 2017 @ 7:15pm
It's a bit dodgy when you go up against purple and orange weaponry when you barely got your first blue, seems very easy to just exploit the PS and stomp on new players.

Seems like certain gear should have a PS requirement that they can only be used if the vehicle reaches of 3k/4k PS or whatever fits.

No, the problem is really that Crossout DOESN'T do that. It matches you based on the total power score off all your parts. What quality your parts or how good or bad your stats are doesn't matter for the match maker!

Power score projects how good or bad your stats are and i see no problem with epic/legendary parts in lower PS (only TOW is overpowered bs) as players that have them traded damage for armor

Today I made the lowest PS car I could, then added a pair of Vector machine guns and queued for missions to see what I would be matched against. Most of the other players had the exact same car, only with different weapons. Soon after the fighting began, I got killed by a player with the same build as me, except his weapon was a Reaper!
It appears that even on the lowest PS level, the game still takes big enough liberties with the individual power scores to match people with blue weapons against people with golden weapons.

Also the power score brackets seem to be fairly wide, seen people with power scores just above 1000 and people with power scores just over 3000 in the same match.

4x Vectors have damage around 73 and total PS 2220, that gives us around 30,4 PS per dmg
Reaper have 54 damage and PS of 1950, that is 36,1 PS per dmg - so if we are talking raw damage with as little PS, Reaper is worse.
I know there is other stuff as hp, perks, coolers, radiators, turn speed etc.

Are you adding the bonus damage the reaper gets, though?
