Got my first vehicle, how do I get in and out of it?

I've been trying to figure out the humvee for the Peoria mission, Stitch got into the vehicle but he won't get out. what am I missing? how do you enter and exit a vehicle?

CTRL + click.

[hazard668]

select character(s) then hold CTRL + click.

To exit either select a character or highlight the whole vehicle and CTRL + click

Press H to bring up a console listing of all Keyboard Commands.

I recall some purists being upset the vehicles in this game made oil engine sounds considering there shouldn't be any oil left in the the fallout universe to run vehicles.....

but yeah I loved using the vehicles to run down enemies in random encounters. though the hummer can be wrecked very easily.
