What is wrong with npcs?

for some reason men npcs start just beating women for no apparent reason

i punched a guy to death for starting a mischief and in result got my reputation dropped a bit

im confused?

If you listen to what the townsfolk have to say, one of the NPCs will tell you that there's a witch hunt for the shabnak-adyr "demon" that they believe killed Simon and is disguised as a woman.

Victoria was a Mistress (with a capital M) -- not the shabnak-adyr demon.
