New to the Game and Insanely Confused

Really liking it so far. The atmosphere, music and ambience are all right up my alley. I even love the feeling of being completely lost, the feeling of uncertainty about whether or not the people I'm talking to are even really listening to me but... wow, where to even begin? I have no idea what the two characters in the intro were talking about or if it's important, I chose the bachelor but I have no idea what that means or what I'm even doing, exactly. I've been doing okay so far, just talking to people until they mark the next person to talk to on my map but everyone (including my own character) talks about all these events and characters as if I should already know about them. TL;DR I'm so confused I almost feel like I've done something wrong. Is there some kind of lore i can read up on, online or something or will all of this just make sense, eventually?

During the game there is always more events than you can check. It's just sometimes you are not in the right part of the town to know about it or you didn't talk to all specific random city people during certain day to know about special events. If you are feeling like you missed something than you certainly did. But that's usual for this game.

This game is actually very simple, especially as Bachelor. Talking to people until they tell and mark the next person to talk to on your map, or just hint at the next person, is the right thing to do. There are other things you can be doing, but learning that you missed something is also pretty safe (i.e. not game over inducing) and fun. The game is obscure in some ways, but it's more familiar than it immediately looks. Reading your letters is about the only thing that's probably not effectively conveyed to you. Stick with it.

It would have helped me when I first started the game. And a number of other people too based on different let's plays.

Its pretty long, but simple:

1. Read your letters and quests, everytime you get one, a weird symbol will appear in the corner
   
2. Talk to everyone: women, men, little boys and girls, the drunk people that walk funny, the men with gray hats, and after a while, the guards with a big moustache. Some of them can give you things like ammo, medicine, somethimes food and, if you are lucky, "shmowders". The others can fix your clothes, guns and the blades of your knife/scalpel
   
3. Dont try to be a hero, if you see a man with a knife, keep your distance
   
4. Ammo is hard to find, and is very expensive in the only shop were you can buy it (until day 9 i think)
   
5. Dont go too hungry, sleep well and be careful, like in real life (i think eva says this to you early in the game)
   
6. Buy food only in day 1, 5, 7, 8 and 11. Every other day it will be insanely high
   
7. When you get one "shmowder" and later, a "panacea" keep it, dont sell it, you will need a lot on the final day
   
8. Dont be an ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, dont go killing everyone you see, reputation is important
   
9. If you are being followed by a big ass rat, a man with a knife, or someone/something that wants to hurt you, enter a house and exit it, that will make them dissapear
   
10. You though it was another advice, but it was me, DIO!
    
11. Read a walkthrough if you cant do it alone. There are one for each character without too much spoilers

The game is very obscure and can be hard to understand.
Make sure you read all dialogue carefully, the way people talk in the game is quite out there.
