Part of OP's problem is he's gone soft from years of playing modern easy mode games that hold your hand for the first 8 hours of the game with pop ups telling you the exact key to press to win each moment and encounter. ;)
If what Mennan said is true, dudes developed this part in a rush which goes to show the result.
And yes there is a difficulty scaler but it can still be surprising haha.
It's a terrible idea to tag melee weapons just to get past the beginning. Swing and move away, you do not have to get hit even once during the temple of trials.

Taking a jab at Fallout 4 feels unfair somewhat. It does a good job to entertain and grab player attention, it gives new player a taste of late stage of the game. And it's generally works.
that being said, the tutorial is relatively easy as long as you know exactly what you need to do. The UI is esoteric and almost impossible to understand early on if player doesn't familiar with the control.
Baldur's Gate 1 is how you do tutorial relatively decent at that point of time. Baldur's Gate 2 refined it with... oh wait.. by literally hand holding player for the entire course. So don't tell me that "modern game bad because tutorial easy".
(i mean the tutorial, once in the wild you can cheese the game)
