Does this mean my save file is corrupted?

I've been getting the same kind of issues. I was running the unofficial patch and had hacked my save file though.

Very uncertain here, but you get those issues if your save file doesn't match the version of fallout you're running. My best bet was steam was re-patching the executable back to the steam version, but I tried making a second copy and reinstalling the unofficial patch there. It didn't work, but I might have messed up my reinstall or something.

My save worked for a day or two, but this is the second or third time I've been down this road. :)

Happen to me twice, and it really killed the mood I had with this game, I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love everything with this game, but 15 hours of work just thrown out the window sucks. I want to finish it so bad, but at this point I doubt it will happen :(( I think it's the steam version that's screwing with the files. Think I'm going to buy it on Gog and see if it makes a difference.

You guys can try disabling cloud saves for the game, that seemed to be the issue on my end

On my end, I think I found the reason of the files getting corrupted. All my save files that were used after talking and grabbing the quest for freeing the slaves from Elise in NCR keeps on getting corrupted, this happened on my last play through as well but all the saves before that works just fine I didn't notice this the first time but glad I did this time :)).

i've been playing for a couple of hours now and the game just works flawlessly i can save and load whenever, hopefully this helps others :)

It won't fix the save, but will prevent it from getting corrupted in the future

How would I go about making it particularly for fallout 2?

MAKE SURE TO MAKE COPIES OF YOUR SAVE GAMES BEFORE YOU DO THIS IN CASE IT DOESN'T WORK

your saves should be in SteamLibrary>steamapps>common>Fallout 2

  1. Go to https://www.nma-fallout.com/threads/fallout-2-savegame-editor.185130/
  2. Download the Fallout 2 save editor
  3. When its downloaded run "[F2se.exe]"
  4. Click on options, Under "[Fallout 2 Path:]", find location of the Fallout 2 Folder then hit “OK”
  5. Click on the save you want to load back into then click on the “Maps”section
  6. Under "List of *.sav files" delete every .SAV file
  7. Click "Save" on the left

It resets all NPC's, items and companions in each area you've been to, however you will still have your items, car, completed quests, etc.

    Hope this helps!
