1. Go into your hard drive. Make a folder there called Fallout 2.
2. Go here http://www.killap.net/ and click on downloads. Download "Fallout 2 Restoration Project" Windows installer.
3. Open your folder where steam installed Fallout 2 "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 2" in most cases.
4. Copy the entire contents of that folder into the NEW Fallout 2 folder that you made in step 1
5. Run the installer from step 2.
6. On the 3rd page of the installer it asks you where to install the patch. This needs to say "C:\Fallout 2" (if your hard drive is labled as "C")
7. Patch should be installed now.
8. Move the files back into your steam folder.
9. Play

The entire process should take 5 minutes tops. If you get stuck just let me know the step you are stuck on. The reason for this process is that some people have had issues with newer versions of windows not permitting access to "Program Files" for patching. This bypasses that issue.

Hi, new to the conversation.
I'd like to thank Snake for posting this, I downloaded the restored content and it worked just fine. However, before downloading this, when beginning a game I would use a save editor to bypass some of the grind at the beginning however when I downloaded this, the mod that accessed the save editor isn't working. Do you know a fix or another save editor mod thing that works for the restored content?

There is a grind in the beginning? Where?

Did I miss it some years ago or just don't remember? :-)

well for the first few cites, you cannot hit anything. fights become less stratagy and more quicksaving before each attack because your charecter finds it too hard to hit a giant gecko 2 inches away with a speer. I like to skip that part by using a save editor to increase my chance of hitting from "good f**king luck, pal!" to "ok, you can hit stuff. But you'd better use stratagy or your as is grass"

You can get your main weapon skill to 100+ within the first 3 levels if you tagged it.

The one i used had an icon of a sword if i remember right. I dont recall the name. Used it to max out my special skills and left the rest alone.

My Small Guns skill was at 117% at Level 4, so your right.

I'm having a problem with the restoration project and the other mod on killap.net, I stupidly installed both, and my game has started to freeze repeatedly a few hours in (I just rescued vic), I don't want to lose 6-7 hours of gameplay by blinding reinstalling everything, is there a way to safely remove one mod, or at least preserve the save file to use with a reinstalled/re-modded Fallout 2?
