Problem with Smiley the Trapper in the first city, any help ?

This is my first time playing the game. While rescuing him in the toxic cave, I used the stealing skill on him. I thought maybe he had something useful. During the game I used quick saves. So, for some reason, after completing the quest and getting experience points when trying to approach him, he attacked me. When I returned to town the same thing happens. Just as I approach him in the bar, begins a fight with him. Because of this I can not talk to him and get the skill to remove the skins of geckos.

Did he catch you stealing his boots or something? If not its probably a bug where your going to have to reload to a point before you saved him. Or just skip over Gecko skinning

You're not missing much by not knowing Gecko skinning anyway, but the problem might be that you pickpocket him while he was your temporary follower.

Can you reload an earlier save ?

No( Unfortunately, there is no such save.

No, he didn't catch me. Apparently you're right and it's a bug. I'll keep that in mind for next time.
