Fallout 2

Which mods should I install?
About to start the game... which mods are unavoidable? Surprisingly, I found almost zero bugs in Fallout 1 in my vanilla run. I know the steam-version of F2 comes with SFall, whatever that is. I also heard the Children-patch will add some quests and remove "invisible looters".

I must say though that installing Fallout 1 Fixt was a nightmare, and it didn't really add anything new of substance, so I'm not exactly a mod-happy person.

The restoration project and you are good to go. This fix bugs and adds some locations/quests that they planned into the game but didn't make it in time. Wich is always good to have for some added exploration.

Despite how much there is to do in Fallout 2, parts of the game always felt incomplete or rushed. The purpose of this mod is to fill these gaps and make Fallout 2 into the game it was meant to be. This project attempts to stay true to what made Fallout 2 great and thus the new content you will find is not something I thought up or felt would be cool to include, but rather a reality of what the original Black Isle developers wanted. I read through developer comments, studied original design documents, and looked through nearly every file included in the game in the process of creating this mod. I admit I had to make some judgment calls here and there, but 90% of what you will see is something originally planned to be included in the game but was cut for whatever reason. Not only does this mod include new content, but it also includes my unofficial Fallout 2 patch which corrects 800+ bugs left in the game after the last official patch. I hope you enjoy this mod.

I'm just afraid of screwing my Fallout 2-installation up. I did that with Fallout 1 Fixt...

does RP have its own "game" like Fixt, or is the RP contained in F2?

Fixt isn't really its own "game". Restoration Project on the other hand, is more like that because it focuses on locations cut from the final product.

What I meant was does RP have its own desktop-icon like Fixt?

And do I just install RP to the F2-folder?

Nop i think you use the default exe. Just download the file i guess there should be a readme file telling you what do to and where to extract it. Trust yourself you can do it. :steammocking:

I trusted myself when I downloaded Fixt, and I spent 5 hours uninstalling/reinstalling the games :steambored:

Does SFall include the children-patch or at least a patch to remove bugs like invisible looters?

No Sfall is pretty much just some engine improvements. The children patch is a separate mod but is also included with the Unofficial patch, which also includes sfall.

The invisible kids ain't a bug, it's the result of not including their in-game graphics files during the localization to European markets. They're still there and vulnerable, but you cannot harm them outside use of deployable bombs or thrown grenades that happen to maim them.

I recommend also fallout 2 weapons redone mod -> Balances weapons and armors all around. And make armor piercing ammo actually work as it should. And metal armor etc are more bullet resistant as they should be, so you need those armor piercing ammunations.

To install the Restoration Project, you just install it to your Fallout 2-folder, and then it overwrites everything or what?
Malm Dec 15, 2015 @ 8:56am
Yes, just run the installer. Latest version is 2.33. you don't need the uncofficial patch, it's included in the restoration project. :) http://killap.net/ Here is download link.
