Is Comprehension Perk any good? (New player)
Is Comprehension Perk any good? (New player) Read something about the perk being useless after 91%

Worth mentioning i have 8 int and use gifted
no, thats a 0/10 perk
if there are books for a skill that means you can buy more books for the skill

you want perks that affect combat

toughness, bonus move, better criticals, bonus ranged damage, lifegiver, bonus rate of fire, bonus hand to hand attacks, action boy, tag (big guns or energy weapons for the endgame), slayer, sniper

awareness is good for first time player

pack rat/strong back if having weight issues

very little else worth taking

You can just buy more books instead.

Books can only train to a max of 90ish. They get less effective the closer to 90 you get.
Even then you can just rebuy books over and over once the store restocks.

What you can’t do is re-roll your perks(unless you cheat). So taking comprehension is a waste of a perk point.

Theres mo point in taking any perk that gives +skill, with the only exception maybe being Tag as it will just straight up double any skill point you’ve already placed in the picked skill. which means you can save a ton of skill points getting to 300 of a skill early, you really dont need 300 in any skill however so its more of a meme. Only time I've ever bothered doing it was for the jinxed melee evasion build so i could get max evasion faster. Then wait for everyone to break their limbs

Or, you can do both.

The PROBLEM is that books only level skills to 91 so it's just a means to an end perk like the swift learner, which helps you "get there" faster, but once you get there, it becomes a waste of a perk because it does nothing anymore

Frankly, OP, if you're ready to tryhard make a min max character, don't mind having the early-mid game be more tedius, then you shouldn't take this perk because as someone said, you can buy books indefinitely, so in the grand scheme of things, you already have the means to level skills /w books for money. However, I don't remember for a fact if every variety of book is for sale, probably is(?).

But, if you're just doing a very casual game, want to have an easier with a better flow gameplay(considering you find every book along the way), then the perk is somewhat useful, especially early before you hit broken hills

You're not borking your character by any means if you take it. Sometimes I take it when I don't wanna spend points on small guns but still use them, so I take the perk. But it's not the same as 'lifegiver' or 'educated' perks that the earlier you take them, the better, because afaik there's no way to buy hitpoints and skill points for free spending.

Nah, that would be wasting perk.
