Derek in the Den doesn't want to talk to me.

I have this quest where I need to take book from Derek and give it back to Rebecca. From what I know I need to talk to Derek first or she won't accept the book. Problem is Derec doesn't want to talk to me, there is only floating text when I try speaking to him. I have tried waiting, leaving the location few times and returning but this didn't work. Is there some other way to get him to talk ? I'm playing with 1.02.28 Unnoficial Patch.

Hello,

You have to find the book on the ground (it will b highlighted in yellow) when u hover over it. It is either in the outhouse behind metzgers slavers guild building (go inside and search everywhere), behind 1 of the partial walls (broken wall), below the church next to trash can w/car door leaning on it, or in the graveyard near a tombstone or grave.

Unless you don't have it, that is. I don't know who wants to return to the Den unless they play that MIB888 Megamod, or to collect money from Fred.

Still, you don't even need to talk to him to progress the quest.

look around on the map, there are 4 places as i can remember...

- Near Derek @ a truckdoor ?
- Graveyard
- Toilets

Derek doesn't talk much - Jet got him badly

I got the same problem. Found the book without Derek, since I can`t talk to him: The dialoge for giving the book to Rebecca doesn`t appear.

Edit:
Solved that problem by simply loading the savegame from entering The Den first place.

I just started that quest without talking to Derek before. I think, that was it. Derekt isn`t supposed to be talked to before starting the quest.
