Fallout 2

charisma vs speech
Is charisma required for dialogue options/checks for success if you have high Speech?

So I've read a lot of online and it seems that Speech and Intelligence are the main stats that determine if you get a dialogue option and if you'll succeed at checks. What about charisma? Is there ANYTHING AT ALL in the game that's hardcoded for you to have a minimum amount of charisma to get access to rewards, Roleplay choices and otherwise content? Can someone please definitely say that if you have high enough speech, that you don't need any charisma?

Of course I mean mostly quest/dialogue wise. Stuff like character perks that require charisma are easily found online. Thank you in advance

Last night I arrived at Modoc, and for the first time ever Miria wouldn't sleep with me.

I'ts been about a decade since I last played, so was following a build guide that said Charisma was a dump stat. I left it at 5 so I could recruit 3 followers once I find the sunglasses. Well, it turns out you need 8 Charisma to get busy with Miria (or 7 once you have a positive town rep).

It's an insignificant issue, but it was always a rite of passage when playing this game in the past. Keep in mind that when the original Fallout games came out in 97 and 98, it was practically unheard of to find adult content in major games.

thanks for the replay! when you said she didn't sleep with you... did you mean you tried acting not interested and she didn't go crazy as usual? How much speech and intelligence did you have, if you recall? :D

hard to call a few flirty lines with implications of sexual act as... adult content. BG3, now that game has adult content without being a dedicated porn game... although being only a turn based game, one might argue

There were no dialog options for it, except telling her that "She wanted it" which is rape and turned everyone hostile. My character has 8 IN and speech was about 90. As mentioned, it's been a long time since I played but I did realise that the dialog options were different from before, (I've played it many times). Did a google search immediately to find out the Charisma requirement.

Yeah, really like what I hear about BG3. Both the adult nature and the true branching story lines are exactly what I want in a RPG. Unfortunately, the fantasy genre is way overdone for me so I'll never play it.
