Fallout 2

Fallout nevada is cool go play it
After finally urging myself to complete fallout 1 and 2, at least the main questlines and a fair share of the content. Not just isometric RPGs-those evocative of the design ideas used in the three-Fallout 1&2 and arcanum, and I refused to open the arcanum shaped pandora's box.

With my modern bout of classic fallout dionysian madness having been inspired by the YouTube-based narrative-reviewer Warlockracy. I look at the total conversions covered by them, ends up it was either one of the SonoraDev games or Fallout:Resurrection (Czech). Sonora itself is out due to, as of writing, lack of translation. For those are the only cultures able to survive the classic fallout code, god willing Mutant Rising gets released. Go look it up if you know how to code in classic fallout (impossible) they could use the help.

So I went for the one I coincidentally remembered the least about from their video, Fallout: Nevada, and its pretty sick. It is legitimately better designed than most of base fallout 2 and a lot of that probably has to do with being made by one guy. It is harder to have disparate writing to the same degree when there's a singular writers vision. Or in this case, just the single writer. This also applies to how the games mechanics work and interactive-what items can generally be used in specific ways in a variety of contexts or the application of skills. Fallout 2 was made in 9 months and while fallout 1 has a stronger design as a whole there was still major content left broken.

I am writing all of this because god knows I have no one to talk to about it elsewhere, and some might decide to take the plunge based on seeing it mentioned-or otherwise remember it from elsewhere. The pond isn't exactly that big and I want more people to experience new and interesting takes on the fallout setting.

install instructions contains within, if you want to know a broad summary of what the game's events are and some excerpts, i highly recommend Warlockracy on youtube.

Yeah it's awesome. I'm yet to check out Sonora, waiting until my next round of replaying the classics + Nevada, so I can add it to the list.
