Fallout 2

Does getting Made man status for all gang families worth it?
I've been thinking about doing it for some time, but it has a long process.

Beyond the novelty or just the fun of doing it, I'd say it doesnt have any more benefits than being a Made Man of a single family and getting Eldrige's special weapon stock.

You need combinations of sneak and/or "initiate combat" exploit to get them all, the Power Armor might work for grunts and gangsters but the Boss will spot you, so you need to talk before they initiate combat!

There are problems in being Made Man of all families :
1. You cant join the Bishops unless they are the first, John Bishop's dialogue will change and initiate combat if you have a Made Man label.
2. Attacking your last family you got with will retroactively delete all your previous Made Man label
3. You cant be a slaver or childkiller if you want to join the Wrights.
4. I'll take ghostwizard's word on that, you cant do it in the current fan patches anymore. Only the Megamod will allow it with their Cult of Personality perk rework.

So to keep it short you need to do ALL the mob quest but DO NOT collect their rewards yet (or in the case of the Mordinos reach the final point of their quest), join the Bishops, kill Bishop by "repairing" his safe, sneak and abuse combat, join the Salvatores, kill silently with a super stim or by stealing Salvatore's oxygen tank, sneak to Big Jesus, have 6 Charisma min and be respectful, use some Jet on him and finally go see Orville Wright by sneaking to him and collect the reward.

So using RP will prevent me?

Any fan patch apparently, havent done this personally, it seems like its a lot of busy work.

Feel free to try on, in the base game only John Bishop reacts on your Made Man status from another family.
