Mouse lag fix
I don't know who else has been having this problem but its been driving me up the wall. I recently found out a fix that worked for me and I want to share it with everyone.

Go to your Fallout 2 folder and open f2res.ini file in Notepad. Scroll down to find this section:

[INPUT]

; Set ALT_MOUSE_INPUT=0 to allow Sfalls mouse input functions to work.

; Set ALT_MOUSE_INPUT=1 to enable alternate mouse input control built into the hi-res patch.

ALT_MOUSE_INPUT=0

Change "ALT_MOUSE_INPUT=0" to "ALT_MOUSE_INPUT=1". Save the file and run the game. Enjoy :) The same thing can be done in Fallout 1, by opening the f1res.ini file in Notepad. I hope this helps out anyone who has been having this issue

Just curious, did you manually update the sfall that came with the game?

Thanks for sharing this op. I believe a lot of players were having this exact problem.

Hello

I tried this solution but it didn’t help.
I noticed that mouse works smoothly, without delay only in windowed mode. Even without change in mentioned file. After change the movement is still “lagged”.

Any ideas?

Kind regards

I´m like sapphireplum, I did try this fix among others and still it has not worked.
Thanks though for sharing as it may help others.

A solution I found that worked for me is:
1. Go to f2_res.ini
2. Set WINDOWED, WINDOWED_FULLSCREEN and SCALE_2X in the [MAIN] section to 1
3. Set ALT_MOUSE_INPUT in the [INPUT] section to 1
6. Go to ddraw.ini
7. Set Mode in the [Graphics] section to 0
8. Set both GraphicsWidth and GraphicsHeight in ddraw.ini's [Graphics] section as well as SCR_WIDTH and SCR_HEIGHT in f2_res.ini's [MAIN] section to whatever your resolution is (1920x1080 for me)
9. Save everything and exit the text editor
This way my game's UI was both scaled properly (not tiny) AND my mouse movement was silky smooth
Hope this helps :melon:

I tried this but it didn't work. I realized it's because in f2_res.ini there's an option UAC_AWARE=1 that keeps a separate copy of f2_res.ini in "C:\Users\'your user name'\AppData\Roaming\Fallout2". So any changes in f2_res.ini in the game folder are not reflected in the game. Setting UAC_AWARE=0 makes the game use the f2_res.ini in the game folder instead, and the solution worked.
