I’ll join discussion here because for now I don’t see any point to start the new thread.
I found in the internet the 2.3.3 Restoration Project by Killap.
Is that the last and best update/upgrade/bug fixing patch I can install? And does it work without problems with Steam version of Fallout 2?
Thanks
No that one is an old version, there's been 26 updates since that version. The newest version is here:
https://github.com/BGforgeNet/Fallout2_Restoration_Project
And yeah it works with steam no problems.
Thank you for previous response.
And thank you that there’s still someone playing this game and trying to fix the old bugs.
As an old and ancient mammoth of RPG games I must although ask you few extra questions. If they are too obvious or easy to find - I’m sorry.
I purchased the Steam version of Fallout 2, and what I’m planning to do is try this restoration project mentioned by the psychotron666. I already read that it works without any bugs. But is there any other patch or extras you advice to try with Fallout 2? Or maybe it is exactly what the old gamer needs to have fun with Fallout 2? And last - which resolution do you advice to use?
Kind regards
Again - thank you for help. I think I must try few resolutions to see which one makes me feel best. I like the idea of original 640x480 or 800x600 as it was intended.
I also tried the loseless music format. Astonishing!
Last but not least. What do you advice about the FO2 Tweaks and the "After installation, see mods/rpu.ini for various settings that can be configured."? I don't want any cheats, I don't want to do any modifications and so on. Yet it sounds like there are some options I can make to change the mechanics. Any quick hint - what to change to have a nice game and don't spend another few hours with turning the game on and checking what is worth of trying?
Kind regards
Hi again
Small comment on my own post, to be more precise. I'm not interested in for instance - modifing on my own Fallout, but rather interested in modifications which can make this precious game better balanced.
So for this example, after I read what FO2 Tweaks are about I think that it's good to install (after restoration project) the FO2 Tweaks and it seems to me that reasonable things to turn on are:
1. Party level match.
2. Ammobox.
3. Damage box - probably the best of all.
4. Molotov cocktail.
5. Improved grenades.
6. Healing revision.
7. Keymap.
8. Modoc Brahmin.
Can you tell me also please is there anything I have to "turn on" manually in the .ini file after installing the RPU, or is everything switched on by default?
Kind regards
