Final Boss Death Bug (Spoilers)

I've managed to kill Frank Horrigan, but rather than initiating the conversation, the game continues where I'm attacked by a remaining Enclave soldier. However, the game nearly always crashes within a few minutes after. Furthermore, if I manage to save after Frank is killed, the save is corrupted, forcing me to reload to the one right before I killed him.
I'm afraid I'll never reach the ending if this keeps up; any suggestions?

Did you save during combat? That may be a reason your save is locked out, don't do that next time.
