Yeah , somehow sad that by all technical possibilities today we dont have a proper story RPG.
I really miss a game like fallout , where you have a great replay ability , a lot of side quests, interesting plot twists, awesome companions and you can make really different type if main character to play the game.
Somehow most modern games are just same story line, watch on youtube and eat popcorn, you want miss anything.
These are the newest ones, though 1st and 2nd are RU only and uses original F2 engine:
Fallout of Nevada
Olympus 2207
Age of Decadence
Shadowrun: Hong Kong
Underrail
-West Coast Desert
-Developed by ex members of black isle studios like Chris Avellone and Josh Sawyer
-Brings back many features from Fallout 1 & 2 like Super Stimpacks, Reputation, Slight Modern Weapons, and a few odd cameos
Yes they are big and there is a lot to explore, but still their version of fallout is some kind of too one lined, similar slow and simple.
Fallout 3 and Vegas are great games anyway, but you still miss a lot.
-I really liked to play the game with low intelligence character. It did sound just hilarious.
Especially many quests were affected by that.
-Why have I to be the mister good guy ?
-No immortal characters, you could kill anybody.
-You could side with master "evil Super mutants" or the Encklave.
-Cmon it was really fun just to have the ability to be true evil or help everybody.
-Where are the great enemies ? Or mentionable side characters?
Deathclaw was something you did fear and it was extremely surprising to find they in vault 13 to be intelligent.
-real big plot twists ?
I my opinion the biggest problem is today developer just are forced to focus too much on graphics, so its nothing is left for the game play.
But sadly the majority of the gamers do force that, but simply buy the next call of duty all the time and ignore games with interesting ideas like dishonoured.
lol Torment: Tides of Numenera and The Bard's Tale IV looks pretty good.

Original War and Planet Alcatraz
Original War
is maybe an RTS, but still that mix of choices in story, different roles by characters and ability to modify your units is impressive.
Planet Alcatraz
Has a really interesting combat system , similar to fallout, setting is amazing and its interesting how in different ways you can accomplish quests.
but still thats pretty old games.
it just does mention too lot of stuff from game 1.
