San Francisco Merchants Can't Be Stolen From

I watched a video on how to get the best gear at the start of the game, I made it to San Francisco and in the video it shows him stealing from the two merchants but when I do they have no money in their inventory. I'm even playing on the restoration project so idk what to do anymore this game makes my head spin in circles.

Chances are the video was made without the restoration patch. The patch specifically makes it so you can't do that i believe.

I tried a few times but that didn't workout. I am now level 4 with Enclave Armour, my main weapon of choice is my fists, and my perk choice was Kama Sutra Master, I'm having a fun time.

Oh darn okay, thanks for informing me. I prefer the restoration patch anyway I've seen vids of Fallout 2 without it and it looks barren to me.

Tbh you dont need to level break to have fun in Fallout 2, having a power armor right at the start rob the difficulty and fun of surviving in a post apocaliptic desert, at this point just use a level editor and get yourself a 1000 bullets of .233, level 30, Power Armor and Bozar.

But to answer you question, just use 2 dose of Jet wait 30 mins and you can steal them very easily.

Just steal from the NCR bazaar, use sneak then steal from all three shelves, by the time you get back from selling/trading stuff in San Francisco, the shelves will have restocked.

Or just work on gambling, go to New Reno to play roulette and leave a coin/some kind of weight on the key while you go make a sandwich/take a walk/watch something/have a good nap then come back to your fortune.

Yeah I know I'm just being naughty and skipping the beginning because I was tired of it, I'm having a blast honestly. I never used the level editor and I managed to aqcuire nice gear but thank you. Thank you as well for the tip about jet and waiting 30 minutes I'll give that a go.

Use on the Merchant, not on yourself btw, it will drop their Perception and Action Point low enough that they wont even react even if they caught you.

Use on the Merchant, not on yourself btw, it will drop their Perception and Action Point low enough that they wont even react even if they caught you.

Ohhhh damn okay that's cool, I remember you could do the same thing with healing powder right?

Problem with Healing Powder is that they can still fight back if they caught you and its quite limited to get some too
