Is redding higher lvl than me?

After i left the den, i didn't go to vault city as i was planning to find Ed there but it was a long trip so i just headed over to redding which was way closer, i explored everything and knew the main quest for the place but it had really powerful ememies, i had 2 of my companions trying to kill one of them, i either died in scenario or spent too my many stimpacks

So should i leave and return after i am stronger or load my previous save to were i leave the den and go directly to vault city?

Or i'm just bad ._.?

Redding is a mid tier level and gear, basically you need gear from New Reno or NCR to take on them without much hassle.

Redding random encounters is notrious for having Flamer weilding raiders and .233 Pistol gunslingers so they will give you a fight! Be prepared.

Otherwise, Redding is an optional location not tied to the MQ, but with a lot of content and exporation to do.

I usually do Redding after Broken Hills, Marcus is very useful there. Especially if you steal Bozaar from NCR guards for him.

Typically from Klamath you go den, Modoc, vault city, gecko, back to den (for the car), broken hills, Redding, new Reno, NCR, san Francisco. So yeah you're way under leveled if you went to Redding after the den.
