save game corrupted

Well my save game corrupted. it was my first playthrough of fallout 2 and all i can say is it is what it is. Great game by the way love nothing like pure fallout. Sad though. Gotta start from the beginning. I guess i'm typing to ask if this has happened to anyone and how to prevent this in the future. Thanks.

Saving during combat is usually the cause of save corruption.

thats kind of what happened actually. I was at the enclave base and it was a hard fight and i was like killing one then going down on the elevator after to save after.

also if you have too many things in your car it will destroy that area of the map, and you cant enter anymore. so make sure you dont overfill the car.

Noted thanks. Now does include lockers? Because my last play through before corruption I did have a stash locker filled to the brim with all kinds of stuff.

The "too many items" bug is caused by having too many script items in an area, like if you stash all your quest items and holodisks in an area it can break your game. Holodisks can also cause a UI bug if you have too many of their entries in your Pip-Boy.

Killap's Restoration Project or his Unofficial Patch should fix those issues. Just use one or the other but not both. I'd also recommend going with the installer version, it gives you better control of what you're installing.

I think the best way to avoid corrupted games is to...
Never save during combat.
Don't plant explosives on people.
Only use/keep holodisks if you really need them, otherwise dump those things in the wastes along with any other junk.
