How good is Fallout 1.5: Resurrection?
Is the story good? And are there any interesting gameplay-updates?

Not actually played much of it myself but from watching a few of these it does look pretty good. Already have it installed.. Just got to get around to playing it lol

It's pretty good, encounters are challenging and gold is sparse. There are few companions and your quest decision will lock you out from some factions, it is impossible to see it all with one play-through.

Now let see if that Russian “Nevada” mod is going to ever be translated into English.

Which stats are important?

SPECIAL; there are checks for Charisma and Intelligence, and one for Karma I believe (not 100% sure thou). I started with my preferred stats 5 9 2 6 9 10 7 (gifted and small frame trait) and I was satisfied how the game went. On the beginning a little tough, some random encounters you really need to run away because there is no chance in hell you can beat it.

By the end game I had 130% in science to successfully get all the computer terminals data (there are multiple ways to finish the game, so you really don't need to have that much), there are other high checks for repair, lockpick and speech. I read on their forums that the highest skill check is 130%

The translation is abysmal and thus the writing is absolutely awful.
Fallout 1 and 2's combat is not very good in the slightest, so the encounter design being the draw of the mod means it's already severely disadvantaged from the start.
It's impressive in scope and design from an amateur standpoint, but it's not terribly engaging.

Funny now I've played it... I don't remember anything from it, but I remember most from Fallout 1+2. I'm not saying the mod is bad, it is okay, but Fallout 1+2 are masterpieces that can't be surpassed.

It's pretty challenging.

But I've got to say that I was slightly disappointed when I played it. The main story was a bit lacking and the potentially cool idea of a ghoul cultist faction was downplayed in a missed opportunity.

The game also didn't feel like Fallout. It felt like I was playing some Russian apocalypse game in a familiar Fallout like setting. The devs said that they tried to go back to the Fallout 1 dark feel of the game but it felt like Fallout 2 without the humor and pop culture references.

That being said, it's a good opportunity to sink some time into if you loved Fallout 1&2 and want to experience the pixelated wastes once more. It's just a mediocre Fallout experience but an excellent mod.

Hate to necro this but I am about to give this a go. Is there any way to grow S.P.E.C.I.A.L. like in Fallout 1 & 2 through the use of surgeries, implants, scans, armour, etc? Or is it just drugs for temporary and perks for a more concrete boost?

There is more than one faction that offers implants.
