Serisously though, it's not that hard, just a bit annoying with save-scumming.
Fighting him is always a bad idea, you get way less XP and a little bad luck will get you killed. You'll get twice as much XP if you talk him out of fighting(needs Speech tagged), or just steal his key.
But if you really want to fight him, you should position yourself next to the fire in the middle of the room and then click him. He'll waste his turn running towards you, and if you have good perception, you should get double turns to pummel him.
I've killed him a few times and got away with it, but you need a total brute of a character.
Nah, Fallout 2 is more Instant Crit death out of nowhere than save scum tactics in the veins of Darkest Dungeon.
Simply put, have better RNG :)
You can tag a 4th skill later on so if you are having a really tough time tag unarmed. Will help with boxing in Reno anyway.
