Is vic important after you go to vault city?
I was wondering because he died in my game.

No, he's just one of the best companions combat wise in the game

Other than having a daughter in Vault City, no.

He gets really good with energy weapons if you keep him alive. At max level, energy weapons is his highest skill. Even higher than repair. The problem is keeping him alive until that point.

In regards to the story though, no. He isn't important after Vault City.

Yeah, 195% energy weapons at max level. Give him power armour and he's unstoppable
