Problem with Cassidy's "Combat Control"
His Custom combat control always reverts back to default:

Doesn't matter what i change or how many times i save it always reverts back to these values whenever i reload a save. It pisses me off cause this idiot always charges into group of enemies while having a sniper rifle .. just so he can get pummeled to death and killed.

I want him to keep close to me and snipe the enemies ffs.
Any simple way to fix this? I only have this problem with him not with Vic or Sulik.

GOG version
latest Sfall installed

Right click on your 'master.dat' file inside of Fallout 2 folder, click 'Property', uncheck read-only

Hmmm. It never was set to "read only".
So the issue must be caused by something else.

Then make sure your Fallout 2 folder is not set to read only.

If that doesn't work, put this text file[drive.google.com] inside of your Fallout 2/data folder. This will only allow Cassidy to be stay close to you.

Also, I'm not sure if you know this, but Sniper Rifle in Fallout 2 does not get accuracy penalty to any close targets, unlike Scoped Hunting Rifle. You'll be just as accurate (if not more) no matter the range.

The weird thing is every folder on this hard drive except for what's inside Documents or Desktop is automatically marked as "read only" but contents inside of those folders aren't. And i can't seem to do anything about it.

Anyways i'm launching Fallout 2 as admin so this shouldn't be an issue never was in any other games files get overwritten / modified properly during gameplay (like saves , data changes etc)

And it's only Cassidy that is bugged and doesn't save his Custom Combat State.
If read only was problem i would have a lot more issues than just one companion not saving his combat state. I probably wouldn't be even able to overwrite my saves without a crash. Or change ingame options.

PS: Accuracy is not the problem but him running into crowd of enemies and getting murdered in single turn is. With my current setup it works best if i do the tanking along with Sulik rushing with the Super Sledge while Vic and Cassidy snipe enemies while staying behind us.

Yeah, I don't know what I'm doing, so you probably shouldn't be reading this right about now.

I've found solution of this problem. Just install unofficial Killap's patch, it should solve this problem. However it is best to start game from the beginning after installing a patch, because importing old saves to patched game, may cause other bugs. Here is link to this patch http://www.killap.net/. I highly recommend this patch because it also fix many other annoying bugs in Fallout 2.
