Best level 3 alternative to Awareness?
Hmm, I sort of want to play a reckless high-AP heavy-weapons-dude build, who wouldn't be terribly interested in how many hitpoints an enemy has, he'd be too busy spraying his minigun at anything that moves, Predator 1 style...

But I can't work out whether there are any other level 3 perks that aren't so throwaway that I might as well take Awareness anyway.

Toughness giving an extra 5 AC seems like maybe the most reasonable choice, given the character's propensity to wade through an encounter without too much thought for tactics.

Anyone have any thoughts on what might be a better choice, and why?

Hmm, yeah... have wondered about that. I guess being able to spend 2AP to reload *and* apply stims at the same time is probably quite useful later on. Are there any other frequently-used benefits I'm not thinking of?

Would it be more useful than the extra 5AC from Toughness?

Haha, yeah... truly one of the greatest ever made :-)

Hah! I just noticed I'm being a complete idiot and getting my wires crossed entirely... Toughness doesn't give you +5AC... that's Dodger at level 9. Toughness just gives 10% damage reduction. In retrospect, that *would* have been pretty powerful for a L3 perk :-P

Is 10% DR worth having over Awareness?

Quick pockets can allow you to heal with as many stims, as many chems and reload and switch weapons for just 2 ap. Pretty useful as its regularly 2 ap just to use a stimpack outside of inventory.

But yes 10 dr is better over awareness if you know the game already.

Hmm... the 10 DR is only on regular damage, no others... think I might be convinced to give quick-pockets a try then :-)

Thanks for your thoughts!

Unless you have 10 or 1\2 PE, i'd grab earlier sequence. First two turns are usually the most important ones, and you don't want enemies to pull a "double turn" on you.

I'll just say this: If you're new to the game and skip Awareness and found Encounters at LV 4 with 399 HP and thinking you would have reloaded had you known this (i.e. Awareness) because you didn't want to cut down an Oak with paperclip, then sure go ahead and skip this talent. :steammocking:

Aside from this, Earlier Sequencer makes sense to me too, it was tough to skip this one.

I always take Toughness.
