Vic Sucks with the alien blaster.
So after 2 painful hours of seeking for the alien blaster and the knowledge that vic supposedly has a skill of 115% on energy guns as of right now (stage 5) (according to the wiki), Vic is doing an average of 5 damage per shot against floaters using this gun even though the alien blaster is said to do about 30-90 hit points of damage. That is pretty depressing. Did the developers nerf it in fear of having an overpowered companion, sounds pretty regressive and gay.

He's better off with a turbo plasma rifle anyway

In the wiki it says you can't give him plasma rifles nor any two handed energy weapeons (since theres no sprites for it) plus i gave mine to marcus. Still it doesnt make any sense whatsoever since he should be able to do somewhat better with the alien blaster that does a lot more damage by default than the turbo plasma rifle. How come no one has ever came across this problem... basically im supposed to take for granted that the increase in other skills in my companions as they level up is purely cosmetic and has no effect on their performance with say energy weapeons for instance. Rather disappointing in deed.

Floaters have high resistance against any electric damage, guess what alien blaster damage is.
And yes Vic can use energy rifles, wiki just does not take into account mods like Restoration project that is widely used by many, trick to make it work is to have Vic use and of course show in power armour, that way you get the animation sprites for him.

i gave the plasma blaster to cassidy and hes doing surprisingly better even though he has a lower energy guns skill. Still does an average of 50 hit points of damage wich is about the same as a gauss rifle very sad.

Well you can give him the turbo plasma rifle as I give it to him all the time. I honestly never use the alien blaster do I can't say to how it's working for you. I just know Vic tears guys in half with the turbo plasma rifle.

i took the turbo plasma rifle away from marcus and gave him the pulse rifle instead so i could have both skynet and vic with the gauss rifle and i gave the alien blaster to cassidy since he has very few action points and he does a bit better with it than vic. Sulik has the super sledge not for the purpose of inflicting a lot of damage but just to knock enemies out constantly.
psychotron666 Dec 17, 2017 @ 12:51pm
Yeah super sledge is best for sulik. If you want him with a ranged weapon just incase, he's really good with the .223 pistol too.
Catopbleas Dec 17, 2017 @ 1:17pm
ik ive had him before with the 223. but its not worth it anymore since he does about 20 dmg per shot and thats mediocre

Skill determines weapon accuracy not damage in the early games.

What stats determine damage then, I thought having a high perception alone was enough

None of them but the weapon and target's Resistance, including Threshold.
psychotron666 Dec 18, 2017 @ 6:23pm
An of course if you critical you do more damage.

Perks can increase damage as well as crit damage. There are also perks that increase the chance of crits.
