I won't spoil what each families objectives and morals are but you should definitely investigate all of the families before killing any them off.
Make lots of saves because messing with a family means being at war with them.
I also managed to get my car back, and upgrade it too!.
- You can do quests for all families but once a family makes you a made-man, the others might attack you on sight. Anyway, by some easy sneaking, you can do at least 3. I never got all 4.
- You can only get into the Bishop-questline in Vault city. There is a guy rambling in the streets inside vault city - If you play your cards right, he might make you an offer.
- In my first playthrough i totaly missed the area, called east-side, to the right of second street, so I missed out on the whole wright-family.
- About the car: Ask Jules (red shirt guy) next to where you parked your car on virgin street.
So take your time, do what you want to, play your character as you like because it's close to impossible to "do it all" in one playthrough without resorting to a cheat sheet.
And that's the beauty of Fallout 2, easily the best game of the franchise and ultimately, the best game ever made.
