Help with Vault 15

I need help, I have killed the two raiders who kidnapped the child and talked to Zeke to get the red key card. The problem is, every time I try to go down to the vault, the guard asks me who I am and I’ve tried both options. For others saying that I am pat works but for me it doesn’t and I am forced to enter combat. I try again and again using saving and loading but nothing changes. Do I need a higher speech level?
On another note, because I am currently in vault 15, I need to know if I’m strong enough to handle the area and the next ones, can you people recommend things to have done before progressing? Such what level I should be, what weapons I should use and what areas to have explored. Thanks!

I am level 6 atm, 4000 xp to 7.

I feel like you should wait a bit
Go get the free advance power armor and the free normal power armor for your companion, you're probably gonna need it

Where do I get power armour?

The BoS guy in San Francisco gives you a mission to infiltrate on the Enclave to get Vertibird plans
With some good intelligence and charisma, they give you their uniform (the advanced power armor), and once you get the plans the guy in San Francisco let's you in on the BoS post, inside there's a locker with a regular power armor
You can also get regular power armors by buying it off on the store nearby to the BoS post, or on the second floor of the Military Base, although I don't recommend these, as the power armor is pretty expensive, and the Military Base is swarming with mutants

I currently have NCR, New Reno, Redding, Broken Hills, Vault 15, and the starting landmarks (Arroyo, Klamath, The Den and Vault City). And no I am playing vanilla.

So, I looked it up, and there's no NPCs who point you to San Francisco :v

There's is a map in a footlocker outside the military base, if that helps
