1. Activate a bomb;
2. Let a kid steal a bomb;
3. Have a fun.
You can also just kill them.
Just like that? Can you get away with it? Don't you get some kind of punishment or something lol...
You do, you get a negative perk. it's pretty severe depending on how you want to play the game. Some of the recruitable NPCs won't follow you, and Vault City won't allow you to become citizen.
The best way I've found, like I said above, is to activate combat before getting too close, then run through while in-comebat (this won't allow them to steal), then you can deactivate combat. Works like a charm.
The Den is a lawless hellhole. Killing near guards or in bars will get you attacked but you can murder people in the street and get away with it.
You can also marry that guy's daughter in Modoc, then murder her in front of the whole church (and him) immediately after the ceremony, nobody will bat an eyelash because she's then your companion, then immediately speak to him where he will casually inquire about his daughter's well being, and you can tell him she's dead which gives him a heart attack.
This is, btw, also an easy solution for bringing drugs and other prohibited substances into Vault City.
I don't feel bad about it. If the game doesn't give you the option to talk to the kids that steals from you if you noticed it, then I feel no remorse to kill them .. in this playthrough.
I remember vividly wasting my time trying to figure out what was the deal with the "ghosts of Klamatt", because I kept seeing weird floating text with no speaker in sight. Then I got to the Den, and noticed somewhat miraculously that some of my stuff was disappearing. Good thing I looked it up on the internet and managed to put two and two together...
There's a joke about it somewhere in the game, actually, in one conversation you can have.
