Goris - Why can't I make him equip robe?

You don't. He does it by himself. He only disrobes for combat. Unless you have a mod that changes that.

Edit: There seems to be a bug that the animation fails to have him put it back on. You could try going somewhere else and that could fix it. According to The Vault wiki him having it off has no ingame effect.

I think the mod was that he didn't wear it.

I think you misunderstood the point.
When I said 'equip', I meant equip it as his armor. Like Leather Jacket, Metal Armor and such. Things that humanoid companion can do.

But I think you read it as equip the robe whem the combat ends, which I don't need to mingle with.

I want Goris to equip robe as his armor. Is there a mod that makes him wear armor? I have bridgekeeper's robe which is basically combat armor.

I understand what you are saying. You want to give him more armor to stop him from getting shredded before he can get in range.
You could use the editor and just give him the extra armor amount. Just pretend his skin got tougher.

I have been seen that Goris can wear the Bridgekeeper's robe in wikipedia. Wonder how he got it to work.

His base defense is already the same as combat armor and increases as he levels up.

And combine with Bridgekeeper's robe, he will have power armor-ish protection, which is still not enough protection with his melee only behavior. I need him to armor up.

I never took Goris for this reason.
By the time you get him your fighting SMs and Enclave .
He moves toward enemy, not in melee range,takes a mini gun to the face, moves again and promptly dies. No thanks.
Even if you lure the enemy to you, hiding around a corner and he then enters melee, his damage out put is low.
I like the robo brain, he's funny, has a ton of HP, and can fire the Gauss rifle.

I would use the editor.
Increase AP ( so he has at least a chance to fight )
Give him a huge HP buff And DR /AC
Increase base DPM.
Etc.
I don't know if NPCs have perks like the PC. ( never used the editor ) but you just give him a bunch of perks.

What a waste of a NPC. Be cool to roam the wasteland with a DC.
But like I said by the time you get him he's pretty useless in combat.

Goris (and Markus, for the matter) cannot equip any kind of armor on purpose. He's already a deadly melee machine with a clear disadvantage for balancing it out, having him with armor would make him OP.

So enclave soliders at oil rig are more OPer than him then.
