Am I missing much from the Modoc-Ghost Farm quest line?

I was trying to do this quest but eventually I needed to search for the farmer the Slags scared away to take over the farm. I grew bored of it and went to Modoc and murdered the guy that gave me the quest in the first place (he had decent loot in his room). I then went with the Slags hoping there was like a dialogue option but nothing, so I just murdered them.

I know that I can side with the folks at Modoc and fight the Slags, but I tried it once and eventually all the Slags just piled on me regardless of the distance I was with my hunting rifle, and dispatching both groups independently was easier since I could make use of the Slag's doorways to funnel them (I also pickpocketed a dynamite on Vegeir which severely lowered his HP and the two guards next to him).

So, should I just load a previous save or just don't care and move on? (the loot was good enough btw)

There is a peacefull way of resolving it which includes having enough PER to see the bodies are fake and finding the farmer Karl in Mom's at the Den. Be sure to use teh right dialogue option with him or he will fall asleep.

The reward from the peacefull way is: a discount at Jo's, free omlets from Rose's and you can take random stuff from her lost and found box, an assult rifle from Vegeir with 50 5mm jhp ammo, and a combat leather jacket if you find Johnny from the Slag caves and bring him back home.

If you don't resolve it in a month, Modoc will just wipe out the place without you and you will find the caves empty when you visit again

Yeah I had the PER to see the dead bodies were fake, but I still had to search for the missing farmer. I went and played a ton and don't plan on loading the previous save lol

Guess I miss on marrying the Modoc girl and don't know if there are more quests there or in the ghost farm.
