As soon as you touch G.E.C.K a hidden timer (2 weeks) starts before Frank Horrigan appear with his death squad in the vault and kill them all, if you run out of time you cannot save them.
For me it feels like the Enclave oil rig part and ending slides where rushed and left mostly unfinished.
Slightly off topic but isn't it about time Bethesda gave us some REAL Deathclaw/Mutant NPCs? Strong and Uncle were.... cute... but they're no Marcus.
The Mother without Eggs in 4 doesn't count!
Funnily enough I never spoken to any vaulties on the Oil Rig but got the Aroyo ending with the vault dwellers joining us.
Nope, it's in the base game.
Huh, maybe something else triggers this ending then. For some reason i didn't got blamed for deathclaws demise on my last playthrough, despite wasting more than enough time since i found GECK for Enclave to wipe them out. And since i usually get Arroyo ending in which vault 13 people are not mentioned, i thought that there was a connection.
Maybe it has something to do with releasing the FEV onto the rig? I did that. Maybe because all of the Enclave affiliated vault dwellers died and only the Chosen Juan, Aroyo and anti Enclave vault dwellers survived the FEV being unleashed the imprisoned vault dwellers had nowhere else to go and teamed up with the Aroyo people.
