New languages & fix for “white screen” bug

We’ve just released a new update is available for Cross of the Dutchman! In this patch, we address one issue in particular that players were experiencing when playing the game. We’re also adding two additional languages to the game, so more people will be able to enjoy the game in their native language!

Bulgarian

We’ve added the Bulgarian language to the game with the help of Keat. You can change the language to Bulgarian by going into the options menu in the game.

Danish

We’ve added the Danish language to the game with the help of FiatLux. You can change the language to Danish by going into the options menu in the game.

The both of you are awesome for helping us out. We hope that a lot of new people will be able to enjoy Cross of the Dutchman in Danish and Bulgarian!

White screen bug

A number of players reported that they we’re experiencing an issue where their entire screen would turn white, making it impossible for them to play the game. This bug has now been addressed and fixed, allowing everyone to play as Grutte Pier once more! We want to thank daniel.mantione in particular, since he was the community member who first reported the issue. He even helped us pin-point the problem, and assisted us with testing the solution! Thanks Daniel, you rock!

German language added & additional fixes

We have launched a brand new update for Cross of the Dutchman which addresses various issues and bugs that were present in the game. In addition to that, we are also adding a new language to the game, German!

Here is an overview of the most important fixes that are included in the update:

The “white screen” issues when spawning has been fixed;
Various spelling and grammar errors have been fixed across of the languages;
You now have more resolution options using the command line;
A lot of performance improvements, making sure the game runs even better on your PC.

A huge thank you to Max and TaD, two awesome guys who helped us translate Cross of the Dutchman into German! You can change the language settings by going into the options menu in the game.

First reviews are in!

Hey everybody -- It's just over 24 hours since we've published Cross of the Dutchman! We're getting some great responses, but also some remarks that convinced us to make some changes to the store page.

Originally, we classified Cross of the Dutchman as an RPG, primarily because of the way you take control of the main character, and because of the interaction that can be had with other characters.

Going by the reviews that we're seeing, most people would not classify our game as an RPG, and that is probably correct.

So, what we've done to improve is update the store page. We've removed the RPG tag from the category description, and added tags like "hack-and-slash" instead. Hopefully, this better conveys what the game is actually about, and ensures that future players get what they expect from the game.

We're constantly keeping track of the reviews and the posts made on the community board, so if you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask!

Cross of the Dutchman

Cross of the Dutchman is now available!

Cross of the Dutchman is now available on Steam for PC, Mac & Linux. The game contains 6 languages on the release, including ''Frisian'', the official language that is being spoken in the province of Frisia! More languages will be made available in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned for that!

We are currently offering a 15% launch discount and two packages, the 'Standard Edition' and the 'Deluxe Edition'. These packages contain the following items:

Standard Edition
A single copy of the game 'Cross of the Dutchman'.

Deluxe Edition

An artbook of over 100 pages;
All the soundtracks from the game in MP3 and Ogg format;
A papercraft item of the main character, Pier.
Timeline overview of the entire project from the start till the end.

Available languages upon release!

Just two more days until Cross of the Dutchman will be released on Steam! In this article we wanted to announce that Cross of the Dutchman will be available in multiple languages! We have a team of enthusiasts who are working very hard to help us translate the game to as many languages as possible.

We have a selection of languages that will be available this Thursday upon the release of the game, but we will add more more languages once the game is released:

- English
- Dutch
- Frisian (the language that is spoken in Friesland where the game takes place!)
- Brazilian-Portuguese
- Spanish
- Russian

You can expect the following languages to be added with updates once the game is released. We don’t have a solid schedule yet for the updates, but we want to have these languages available to you as soon as possible!

- German
- Danish
- Bulgarian
- Swedish
- Italian
- Polish
- French

The history behind Cross of the Dutchman

We have created a video with more information on the history behind Cross of the Dutchman. As some of you may know, Cross of the Dutchman is based on the true story of Pier Gerlofs Donia. Because the story of Pier is a local legend, we knew it was important to share a bit more background information on how and why the events took place that we portray in the game.

Today we are proud to announce that Valve has approved our store page, which means we can now communicate better with the community and make announcements on Steam!
