BTW, the afforementioned thrid party patches do not, in fact, work as steam has modified the .exe file for some reason. It is kinda a shame as I hoped that Interplay/bethesda could at least implement some improved support for modern PCs but instead we have to resort to playing a pixelated mess of a port that should look better if given the appropiate love and care.

Or where ever you installed steam. When you run Fallout 1 for the first time, you can run it from the start menu > Fallout Fixt program it it starts right up perfectly like it used to with no rainbows or anything weird.
