Censored Version?

I read somewhere that steam uses the censored version (no children) anyone who does play this, can you confirm? easiest place is right in Shady Sands since it's the first settlement..

I haven't played the Steam version for quite a while but I'm pretty sure I never encountered any children.

Only the UK and German versions should be censored, but there are 3rd party patches that can fix this.

The steam version is the UK censored edition, whilst not quite as censored as the German version, there are indeed no children in the game. However I beleive that Fallout 2 has children in it, but I am not sure that you can kill them, not that I have tried :)

BTW, the afforementioned thrid party patches do not, in fact, work as steam has modified the .exe file for some reason. It is kinda a shame as I hoped that Interplay/bethesda could at least implement some improved support for modern PCs but instead we have to resort to playing a pixelated mess of a port that should look better if given the appropiate love and care.

Thanks all who replied. I have the CD's, but reason why I was asking is because I bought my gf the steam version and was just curious. Also read that because it's censored, it's caused a few new bugs to appear. But she's enjoying F3 so far. It's a great series. :D

If you install the Fallout Fix program it restors killing children or no children. It also installs all the official and unnofficial updates so it will work on Windows 7 64 (you want this for the steam version). Dont even worry about the censorship - its easily undone. Get the fix here (its all over the other threads for Fallout) it has a self installer with lots of options, if your unsure just leave it as it is and just click next next... BTW your old savegames wont work after installing:

I should also note that the installer will ask where to install the FIX to, this should be over the top of your current steam version usually here: C:\...whereever...\SteamApps\common\Fallout
Or where ever you installed steam. When you run Fallout 1 for the first time, you can run it from the start menu > Fallout Fixt program it it starts right up perfectly like it used to with no rainbows or anything weird.

Where can someone get the unedited version of the game? Also does anyone know if F2 and Tactics are edited?

f2 is not edited well the one in the collection is not i can asure you

There are kids in the edition I play but I have never tried to kill them.

Well it's never been my intention to kill them, even while having an evil character. That's mostly ever happened because of npc companions who accidently hit them.. and then tell me I killed them lol.

I was just asking if the fallout collection I bought is the censored version.. wanted to know because I bought it for my gf and I wanted her to have the same experience.. or the option lol.

Just get the fallout fix that GirthBrooks mentioned above, I only just installed that recently and it works wonderfully! iIt even comes with the HD patch which fixes the unfortunate "pixelated mess" that I mentioned above.

Yeah theres a lot of cut content from this game. Like for example the good Followers Ending. I really hate hearing about them getting destoryed by mutants but I'm just like "No... they didnt :D" thanks to Fallout New Vegas!
